    Leasing a Printer / Copier

I've been asked if I know anything about companies that provide this service to small businesses, and whether I could recommend any. The short answer is no, as all of our kit is on a single gigantic service contract from a MegaCorp it's very hard for me to comment.
However, it did occur to me that many of you might be able to help. Can any of you provide any insight into companys like Insight, D&E Office Solutions etc ?

    Ta muchly.

EDIT: D'Oh - that should read 'Printer'. Can a Mod please correct it ?

Re: Leasing a Pronter / Copier

We've currently got two - a standard photocopier/printer from Ikon office solutions (like one you'd see in any standard office), and one huge machine from RISO. No complaints about either, very quick service when anything's wrong with the machines and they were very high quality units. The RISO in particular... I've never seen anything like it, pumps out a sheet per second when it's going at full pelt, albeit not the same quality as a laser.

Apart from that, not much that I can help you with I'm afraid.

Re: Leasing a Pronter / Copier

We use G&T (gtoffice.co.uk) They are located in Essex

We currently have a Ricoh MP C2500 combined copier/printer. Excellent piece of kit for what we need and excellent price/service from G&T.

Re: Leasing a Pronter / Copier

We've leased our copiers for years and wouldn't have it any other way.

Phage, as you're also Kent based (and presuming the person asking is too) if you're at all interested in who we use, let me know and I'll share the wealth (via PM of course )

    Hi Phage,

I used to sell copiers. My boss was always pushing us to sell them on "flexi". You get well stiched up. The deal is for 3 or 5 years and each month you pay for a fixed amount of copies/prints to include all toners/servicing & a copier/printer/scanner. Sounds great untill you try to get out of it. Then you have to pay for all outstanding monthly payments! Plus you pay for the prints wether you use them or not and pay handsomely if you use over your amount.

Also after 4 years of a 5 year rental/lease we would be getting you to upgrade to a newer model but factored into your new monthly payments is the outstanding balance from you previous contract. It would work out cheaper for the customer because the new model is always cheaper than the old model. Whats not highlighted is you are tied in for 5 more years.

Who ever you get in as a service provider get the following in writing:
    1. is the equipment brand new - not garaunteed
    2. what happens to unused prints/copies each month/quarter
    3. how often are my volumes checked - you might use loads 1 month and v few the next month
    4. how much do I pay for additional prints - it should not be your monthly volume divided by you
    5. what happens if we need to cancel/renegotiate the contract
    6. What are the charges if we need to upgrade/downgrade equipment
