Wow I love it...so impressed it's now my default browser unless I run into a problem with it. And it's only a beta lol.
I really like having the bookmarks across the bar like that, second only to having a hotkey for each one. Only downside so far is the scrolling from the right of my laptop touchpad is a little jerky - each scroll goes a lot further than it did in IE. If I wanted to scroll that fast I'd use Page Down. I could get used to it though.
Nope:
"There are a number of myths surrounding Opera, that is repeated from time to time, and that seem to never go away.
One of them you can see in this article, which is about Nokia trying to buy Trolltech.
The article makes it sound like Opera is based on Qt, which is not actually true.
Opera has never been based on Qt. Opera developed its own lightweight portability layer, to be able to move to all kinds of platforms, even where no cross platform toolkits are available. Opera for Linux is using Qt the same way as Opera for Windows is using Windows API:s to connect to the platform.
Opera is agnostic to platforms. devices, and toolkits. Of course individuals working for Opera likes some better than others, but when it comes down to it, we will do whatever it takes to deliver the best Internet experience on any device."

Just downloaded it now - looks and seems very nice
Just need some addons now!
I like that each tab has it's own process, very nice!
Edit: It definitely seems a lot snappier to browse than Firefox
Urgh.. comes with google updater which i don't want running on startup thank you very much.
Why do companies insist on doing this kind of thing?
Seems quick though, simple clear UI.
Only used it quickly this morning before leaving for work, impressed so far. Seems to be fairly quick and renders web pages fine, which is more important than a zillion addons.
In the internets, no one can hear you sarcasm.
because is that really somethign that should be done in the context of the interactive user, rather than a system account?
It is a bit of a failing of windows that there isn't a unified way of deploying/installing an application, yet again its very flexible that they haven't tried to push everyone into using say ClickOnce.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
Meh, popups from the tray or on a dialog - much the same to me. What I don't like is having software needlessly running on start up. To me, this lumps google in the same annoyance category as apple etc. Thank god for Winpatrol
Opera simply prompts you once in a blue moon when a release is available.
In any case - the browser itself seems quite nice
That's the only thing stopping me using it all the time.
It's fast, looks clean and simple and works.
Once the addons appear, I'll consider ditching Firefox.
EDIT: http://www.google.com/support/chrome...95&topic=14683
Just had a mess about and it does seem quite good. The clean bar at the top is very much to my liking The tool bar also seems really intuitive lot more so than the awesome bar in the new FF
GOogle may have nailed it on the head
I liked it then I read this : http://tapthehive.com/discuss/This_P...e_s_EULA_Sucks
Saracen (03-09-2008)
Any reason why it installs in
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
? Weird
