But you're more than happy to pay for the Intel CPU and nVidia graphics card which you're touting in your system spec... and we both know those companies combined have the moral values of a schizophrenic SS Officer.
I guess if it's easy to steal, then you're the man to help yourself right?
[edit] $28 billion - ring a bell? That's how much The Gates Foundation has donated to charity; a clear demonstration of how unethical and immoral the MS bosses are...
Evidently not in all hardware configurations, as I had no issues transferring files between XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008.
@Sumanji - I just ignored that post as trolling - I fail to see how Microsoft are any more immoral than... I dunno, Wal-Mart, McDonalds or countless other global brands. The user is claiming to be a pirate, in which case I can't see them lasting too long around these here parts.

But TBH, how much of that is purely down to the 'reputation' that it has 'built up'?
Yes, it has/had problems in some areas, yes, it isn't perfect... but what OS is (the first person to say OSX gets punched in the neck, an we all know how bad that is )?
XP certainly isn't perfect and they've had that out for yonks.
IMHO, windows 7 is just Vista with a tummy tuck and facelift...
The mojave experiment showed that most of "the issues" were down to public opinion without them having using it.
Obviously, there are areas where Vista falls down (and falls down badly), on some systems more than others (including mine pre sp1), and the whole 'vista capable' thing was a debaucle (or however you spell it), but on the whole (IMO anyway) i don't think Vista was any worse than XP at launch (apart from annoying companies not/still not having proper driver support [/me glares at creative])... They are both good OS's, but Win 7 adds some interesting features and a nicer UI while keeping the decent features of Vista and removing the stigma which has (again IMO) wrongfully become attached to vista's name.
Obv, i have no bones against those that have used Vista and come to the conclusion that it isn't for them (be it problems of other) or that XP is better for them, what gets my goat is those that actively slag Vista as a 'failed' OS and yet have never even used it ...
But Windows 7 could well be the first MS OS that i actively go to a shop and purchase for myself as soon as it comes out, no dilly dallying waiting for 'stability', in from the beginning, and in the past i would never have done that.
I hate people mentioning that.
Why should my purchase of any software come with an obligatory donation to charity?
They blatantly over-price their products if they can make such vast sums of money and give more vast sums of money to charity.
If they reduced their prices WE could afford to give more to charity rather then Bill passing our money on as own his to make himself feel better.

I'm doubting it because OEM's fill their machines with that much crap that I can't see why MS would have gone that route.
A mate has just brought a Toshiba laptop with Vista that has an insane boot time. We are talking about the 'go and make a cup of coffee before bootup' type.
MS really needs to clamp down on OEMs and the amount of non-sense they bundle with their machines.
Guys - the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is *not* Microsoft. If you're going to use the idea that a company could produce a product cheaper so you're going to steal it then you need to significantly widen your scope.
Also the point Agent made about Mojave - the website (click The "Mojave Experiment">What Is The "Mojave Experiment") says that they used "HP Pavilion dv2000 Entertainment Notebook PC series with 2GB of RAM", so a pretty off the shelf piece of hardware. Regardless, I thought it made it's point pretty well - most people at the time were spewing all kinds of FUD about Vista despite never having used the thing, and given an opportunity to assess it without that affecting their opinion they actually rather liked it. Thankfully it seems that they managed to get most people to get the hate out of their systems and everyone's currently singing the praises of Windows 7, despite it being pretty similar. At the end of the day a lot of people simply don't like change, and now that they've had the opportunity to adjust to the change they actually rather like it.
Anyhoo - back on point - Matty-hodgson: your Mum's PC was showing some sort of non-genuine warning. Did you get this sorted? If so what did you end up doing?
Shush you
I found the vid that i'd remembered (can't hotlink, 'cos it's silverlight)
http://www.mojaveexperiment.com/?fbid=QPC-fvi_fUa
then click mojave experiment
then what demos did we show them
and it's at the beginning of that video (although there seems to be multiple videos from that link, as i've had 2 different ones from clicking it..)
also, the 7057 'black screen' was me being a numpty...
Windows had changed the monitor affinity so the primary was my TV
