I am SO upset that this didn't turn into a whole series of films. This, along with Ioan Gruffud in Hornblower, is absolutely stunning.
There's a YouTube vid that details how Master & Commander is, cinematically, the finest film ever and it's an opinion I share.

The last film I watched was The Secret of the Sword, ie the origin story of She-Ra, He-Man's twin sister. My eldest is finally old enough to begin a proper education... which means watching every episode of any 80s/90s cartoon that I remember watching. Coming soon will be Inspector Gadget, Thundercats and whatever else I can think of. Jace & the Wheeled Warriors perhaps, although the only good part of that was the theme tune.

I just finished 3 Body Problem. I've never read the book and I knew nothing about it. but I really enjoyed it. I do hope they finish the show now. Netflix has a habit of never finishing what it starts.

The book is very clever with superb ideas but I found it a hard going read, specially book three where I was invested enough that I wanted to know how things ended but otherwise wasn't totally wanting to read it IYKWIM.

Watched the first episode on Netflix, and I think they did a really good adaptation assuming they kept that up. Things really took off in book 2, so would be a shame if they stopped now.

If I remember correctly this was overshadowed by Pirates of the Carribbean released a few months earlier. However, rumor has it a prequel was in development in 2021. So it is on the minds of studios, we'll have to keep our fingers crossed.

I just watched the first season too, based on your feedback. I really liked as well - an interesting mix of (theoretical) science & science fiction. Like you though, I'm now hoping Netflix will continue the series!

Having gone through all 3 audiobooks last year and the fan made follow up The Redemption of Time, this is now my favourite hard sci-fi series ever. The ideas are just mind blowing.

The TV series is a adaptation, the books' weakness is definitely it's character development, but the Netflix show changed some things around so the story could be more character driven, which is fine. Some elements of the story have been changed, or omitted, but the fundementals are there.

Like all good sci-fi shows the first series should be the weakest, if they can do the second and third books justice it should make for some incredible TV sci-fi. The end of book three had me reeling, truly terrifying.

If you want to watch an adpatation which is more faithful to the original book you can try the 30 part TENCENT Adaptation, which was released about a year ago. Edit: ...there were 30 episodes viewable on Youtube until recently, but for some reason only the first 2 are currently visible:

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?

    Bull (2021)

A British gangster/thriller type film starring Neil Maskell (Utopia).
I thought it was quite good, it does have a typical British budget but they make it work well.
Some bloody scenes not for the faint hearted...
Simple story & easy watch but still entertaining.

Its difficult to say too much without ruining it.

Currently on Netflix and C4 streaming.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?

Currently watching the MCU in chronological order. Had to start again as 10yo son wants in on it. Finally got to Ant-Man this weekend, was better than I remember it being. Sick of being asked "What's next, dad?"

Don't make me look at the list again!

I watched the Ghostbusters frozen empire at the weekend, they're still not a patch on the originals, however they are still better than the 'female' version they did a few years back..

Repeating the past is basically 90% of Hollywood films these days!

I watched 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' last night. It was...alright. Lot's of action scenes, as you'd expect. I can't say I'm all that excited about any future Mad Max films. There is a cool cameo at one point in the film, but no spoilers...

Aah the female ghost busters was fine, none of the new ones are a patch on the originals, could be true or just fond memories. I've all to see the latest one.

Watched Prey last night (again), good 90minutes of movie right there

    Deadpool/Wolverine...

A bit late to the party but was worth a watch, plenty of nods to what came before
