Talk Talk believe we have a 3 Mb/s connection this is today's speedtest 0.30 Mb/s 0.16 Mb/s 1328 ms Braintree ~ 50 mi
.30 download 0.16 upload 1328 Ms ping the exchange is 2.4 miles away we talk to talk talk on a regular basis they claim they are sending engineers round but it never happens they do tests but only tell us what we know, they say we are to far from the exchange I don't think so

It would be about this time I would start looking for a new supplier!

If I read the first page of this thread from 2007 I don't feel so bad about our internet... Our ADSL2+ is shockingly bad (Infinity was coming September 2013.... then October 2013... then November 2013... then December 2013... then December 2014... then December 2015... then December 2016...hopefully soon? We've finally moved forward to the "Connect" phase!)

For browsing and gaming I use an EE 4G wifi access point thingy and that gives (right now, at 4PM. At other times the download is as high as 60Mbps):



That only gives 32GB per month though, so if I want to download something (painfully slowly) I have to use the ADSL2+:


Which isn't always that high, that's syncing with 9 dB SNR in the day time, if we want it to not lose sync at night it needs 18 dB SNR - I generally just leave it at 9 dB and let it resync in the night to about ~1900Kbps and then resync it the next day to 3-4Mbps again. Sometimes the line is so unstable that it's completely unusable though - syncing at ~150Kbps, or so it says, but it won't even load google when that happens so *shrug*.

Has anyone noticed Virgin Media has a 300mbit connection even though the site only says 200? It said I my 200/12 was the top package but I have ordered 300/20 mbit connection. I should have had it today but the courier screwed up and "lost" my package so now I have to wait till mid next week for the replacement to be sent. Currently my test results are:

My new results, have Talktalk fibre 38mb up and 2mb down and its near enough on the money. Did have to change the router to get this as the original black box they gave was rubbish. was only getting about 28mb, Switched to the TP-LINK Archer C8 which gave me full speed.

If thats 200Mb Virgin I would get onto them. Thats far lower than it should be



Thats the 200MB "Gamer" package, an extra fiver for no traffic shaping or slow down in peak periods. Yes please!
