Yup, thats now happening to me as the financial service industry has tanked, the last offer i got i would classify as cheeky.

y'see this is where I fall down in most interviews - I have a tendency to go into too much detail and apparently they're not *really* interested in your sekillsets and experience, just that you fit the company "type".

I bet these companies then never understand why they haven't got the skillset they should have?

Engineering in the petro-chem industry is where it was @ 6 months ago the lowest paid contractor @ the firm I was @ was on £500 a day

Where can you find courses teaching PDS?? All that I've seen charge like blimming £300+ a day. For someone with no job thats stupid money to be spending!

I've had a couple of different interviews. In my last position it was done in 30 mins with a couple of easy questions. It was more of a chat than an interview.

The interview for my current job was over 2 and a half hours. It didn't feel that long but they asked a hell of a lot of questions.

It's something that needs to be done if your not finding your current job fulfilling. If you're going to spend all that time at work make sure you're enjoying it. Maybe pick up a cert or 2 in the time off? If you're on jobseekers then some off the Unis will give you the training and test for free.
