Its the customers I feel sorry for, Tiscali might be a terrible company, but the majority of their customers arent computer savvy/broadband educated and its easy for us lot to laugh at them, but if Tiscali don't find a solution, where are all those customers gonna go? Not like we're talking a few thousand, theres millions of them... Coming to an O2 enabled exchange near you soon?!

I had no active phoneline (just a BT line with a dialtone) and it took BT to week to sort it, assuming your out of contract with Tiscali, can't see it taking more than a few weeks. If they go bust though, gawd knows what kind of delays that could cause. Plus the strain it will put on openreach (see above ^^)

Well the contract is out, and we cant be without broadband for a few weeks. They will have to go to O2 then.(afank) Though Tiscali often do give us 7mb download speeds, (about 2/3 of the time - they are not all that bad, but when it goes slowley you get very poor speeds)

Yeah they get a bit of a bad rap agreed. Think its like Virgin Media and luck of the draw dependant on where you live etc. Saying that, my brother was with them for ages untill he recently changed to VM. Used to struggle to see 400k peak! His new shiney Virgin connection is just like mine always was, solid 10Mb with ~15ms pings. Alot of his problems with Tiscali came about when he discovered torrents for the first time and pretty much ran his own tracker off the back of a 2Mb connection LMAO!

Can see the issue as Tiscali have possesion of your phoneline, but surely you can request a Broadband MAC code for O2, Be or whoever and request to have to line put back with BT. That shouldnt delay an ADSL order as a Tiscali line is still a BT line??? Have you ran your phonenumber through say the O2 site? If you get a result back, your in theory good to go.

This is excellent news, Tiscali are awful and as a result of this I might finally be able to get a decent Internet connection at home.

I think you're one of the lucky ones - my speeds are fine all day, UNTIL I get home - at 6pm they drop to between 200-500k down with pings of 200-500ms - O2 forums are rife with complaints, have a gander.
Wise old man won't you help me please? My house is a squash and a squeeze.

They destroyed Freedom2surf - they where fantastic until they where taken over when Tiscali bought Pipex. (Don't want to lose my email address though).

    Re: Tiscali toast?

As for Lee @ SCAN writing that we PAY for WHAT we GET....How about the SUPPLIER, SUPPLYING what they CONTRACT FOR. My contract with Toucan/Tiscali/Pipex says a download speed of no less than 4800mps would be supplied for my line. My immediate neighbour whom is with BT receives a CONSTANT 6 to 7800mps.

Go with a under priced service this is what you get. A company that is not pulling in enough for the bills. I am with everyone else this company has been the vain of my IT support were their terrible support is as helpful as a chocolate tea pot.

Good by tiscali I will party on your grave.
