Is anyone else having connection trouble with Pipex?

Since yesterday my connection is going up and down every few minutes and it's driving me crazy.

The Sync light on my router goes out and then it has to reconnect.
It may be my router (which I will power cycle tonight) but that's been rock solid since I bought it back in Jan.

Can anyone else on Pipex confirm a problem?

    Thanks,

    Andy.

I'm ok in nottingham. Sorry about that! I connect to Pipex with my Netgear DG834G. I reboot approx once every 6 months, give or take.

    stinger161,
My filters are fine (I think).
My router just keeps on reporting failures, last one was almost exactly 15 minutes ago...
I've rebooted my router and will keep an eye on the router's logs as well.

    Think you misunderstood me

LLU = local loop unbundling, ie it does not use BT’s equipment at the DSLAM for your ADSL.

Lots of people are having sync issues at the moment on LLU lines, across different ISPs (UKOnline, Sky). I am with UKOnline and have been hit bad (cant stay synced for longer than a few minutes).
My line has had ADSL for about 4/5 years now with 0 issues. My noise margins are fine, its just almost like there is a break in the line,
Check out ADSLGuide – more posts there on the issue.

    Agent,
I do pay Pipex for my line rental so does that mean that I'm affected by LLU?
It's been rock solid for about 3 years and now it's driving me potty!

I'll check the ADSLGuide forums out - thanks for the tip.

Being with Pipex doesnt mean that you are on LLU, but could be.

You need to talk to pipex or check your account details to find out if you are on a LLU service. Chances are if you have a look about, you'll find out pretty quickly

I'm with pipex and I've recently started having trouble. A quick check of the exchange on the "My Controls" section shows that it's congested!

Due an upgrade on the 15th Dec apparently!

wonder_lander, I'm still having bad disconnects and so I've started the technical fault path, been asked to check all my equipment (done that tonight) and I'm clean from my end.

I'll check out that section of the control panel and see what it says for me...

** Where is the section regarding the exchange? I'm searching around the "Control Panel" page and see nothing?

I was given a testing procedure to carry out from Pipex, one such test was to change my username to be a BT test one:

If none are found, we can move onto checking the line itself.

Disconnect from the internet and then change your username to which you
    connect up to the
    internet with.
    Please enter it as:
    bt_test@startup_domain
The password box should be left blank.

When connected with this username, please test the connection and check for
any patterns with the drop outs. If the drop outs continue then we will need
to send the fault to BT.
This seems like quite a useful test to know about considering how slow some broadband suppliers can be when offering connection help.

Well I still have problems so I guess it's a BT issue...

I'm still waiting for an update and will phone Pipex tomorrow to see if they have had a response from BT. I think it's a problem with the line from the telegraph pole to my house as it started last Thursday around the time that we were having some bad windy weather.

We lost telephone service completely about a year ago when storms damaged the line.

I'll just have to wait and see what BT say, but I'll keep this thread updated with my progress (or lack of it!).

We've been having significant issues with Nildram (now effectively Pipex-by-proxy). Basically, we use ADSL modems with routers behind them, and I suspect that it's because the exchanges have been "upgraded" to ADSL Max. I think the variable speed and signal are causing the modems to lose synch with the DSLAMs, and they require a hard restart to get going again. On a few of the connections, we've asked for the connection to be regraded to fixed (lower) speed standard ADSL and that seems to have helped enormously.
