8.79tb is highly usable when your server is for peoples junk and they rent by the gb per month . Im 17 not 13 and this isn't dream hardware this is reality the 8.79tb is actually in two raid arrays the internal array which is 9 harddrives and is software raid and 4 more in an external namely this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=276028 through the esata port. I also have a few externals for our premium members who want there data to be safe and secure iif you pay me a little extra . I am researching server systems at the moment but I want something slim an unobtrusive and they all seem like tanks .

My server also acts as a heater for my room it was snowing outside but we had to keep the windows open as otherwise it feels like a sauna according to speed fan (i know it isn't the best temperature gauge) all the hdd's run at between 48-53 sometimes under load I have seen them jump to 57

So lets see according to your spec :-

    case: Therrmaltake(all 1 word) Mystic v
the internal array which is 9 harddrives
think that puts dr who's tardis to shame.

    - u need to get out more
and they all seem like tanks
that's why their called server systems. Unlike your shonky sounding enterprise most people use a server to minimise down time not look pretty.

I really think you should be on tv, your expertise deseves a wider audience, sadly you'll be to young to remember the comedians.

    thanks for the entertainment.

I went to the Doctors the other day, and I said to the Doctor, I said, "Doctor, I need some sleeping pills for the wife", and the Doctor said, "sleeping pills?, what seems to be the problem?", I said, "She keeps waking up".

I think the Thermaltake Mystic is a different fantasy PC.

The "server" is in an Antec 900 with a jerry-rigged additional HD cage (where the hell that goes has not been revealed). Now we have the addition of an external 4 discs in a raid - which he has done mighty well to get because Scan don't even have an ETA on it yet.

And we won't even go into software Raid on the 9 internal discs. I bet that's using Raid 14...

chose the wrong one meant this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=276025 they look exactly the same........... The pc in my sig is my gaming pc!!!!! the extra 3 hdds in the case occupies the 5.25inch bays. The thermaltake mystic btw is an appalling case so impractical to fit stuff in the floppy/hhd cage crushes the power cables fr the motherboard the hdd's and graphics card actually forms a wall down the centre and the other hdd rac the lowest level hdd slot if filled wont fall drop own because of the graphics card fan. the software raid is raid 0 hence why people have to pay extra if they want data security.

I admit it is a very very very shoddy business but it is a niche market and it fills it practically and allows me to make money without having to do anything

Why are you guys arguing with me what is wrong with my server ???

    Hi Matt
Why are you guys arguing with me what is wrong with my server ???
mainly because you have contradicted yourself and/or confused people as to your components etc., in a few of the posts in this thread. It is not, speaking for myself, meant badly

I admit it is a very very very shoddy business but it is a niche market and it fills it practically and allows me to make money without having to do anything
whilst that may be honest , remember some of your customers may be reading this , even if they don't make the connection to you, they may revise their opinion of the service their paying for.

    luck
