There's no such thing as the perfect anything but the ideal motherboard for me atm must have good layout, stability, ability to OC, have plenty of internal USB headers (I've potentially got up to 6 frontal USB ports), ideally have 3 usable PCI slots, and must have WiFi.
Out of the Abit IP35 Pro, Gigabyte GA P35 DQ6, Asus P5K Deluxe the P5K Deluxe pretty much has it. The only reason I haven't bought it yet is the SATA placement issue, I have an 8800 gts which, I believe, will cover possibly 2 of the SATA ports(?) - I will have SATA 2xHDD's, 2xDVD-RW's, and have the future in mind.
X38 is literally round the corner, it's new and new chipsets / motherboards usually come with the added ball-ache of a teething and tweaking period, plus the initial price premium. But, there might be an ideal X38 with all of the above. If, reports are true, I know if I leave it too long a P5K Deluxe will be hard/impossible to find.
Someone probably has an in-depth low-down-hoe-down on X38 merits and minuses over P35, I've just read the obvious overview stuff that's been put out so far.
Opinions and thoughts welcome, thanks.
