Grab a late P5K Deluxe or early X38?

There's no such thing as the perfect anything but the ideal motherboard for me atm must have good layout, stability, ability to OC, have plenty of internal USB headers (I've potentially got up to 6 frontal USB ports), ideally have 3 usable PCI slots, and must have WiFi.

Out of the Abit IP35 Pro, Gigabyte GA P35 DQ6, Asus P5K Deluxe the P5K Deluxe pretty much has it. The only reason I haven't bought it yet is the SATA placement issue, I have an 8800 gts which, I believe, will cover possibly 2 of the SATA ports(?) - I will have SATA 2xHDD's, 2xDVD-RW's, and have the future in mind.

X38 is literally round the corner, it's new and new chipsets / motherboards usually come with the added ball-ache of a teething and tweaking period, plus the initial price premium. But, there might be an ideal X38 with all of the above. If, reports are true, I know if I leave it too long a P5K Deluxe will be hard/impossible to find.

Someone probably has an in-depth low-down-hoe-down on X38 merits and minuses over P35, I've just read the obvious overview stuff that's been put out so far.

    Opinions and thoughts welcome, thanks.

Its the GTX and the Ultra that covers them, but its only the Ultra's cooler that gets in the way.

You can still do it with one angled cable and one straight one, and as the GTS is shorter, I think you should be fine.

    me too.

although as the P5K deluxe seems to have been removed from scan - apparently discontinued, and the others are awaiting stock, it seems that the X38 may be available byt the time the others are in stock.

That's really meant for water cooling. Many of the big Air HSFs won't fit.

How long do you mean when you say a while, roughly, like? Been waiting on this, but the P5B deluxe audio problem is really annoying me, so I might go for something else if we're talking over 3 months....

    ASUS Prepares X38 Express Motherboard
The X38 chipset date looks to have been moved from the end of September to the 9th of September
looks like a repeat of the p35 launch from what i've read. Mobos available before Intel's official release date on Sept 23rd

Haven't heard anything to the contrary to support
Well they were all supposed to hit market end Aug/Sept - and aren't going to
    Like to share it??
