I know its for another part but noones looking

Ok i just this morning got my new pc, its an e6750, 4 GB of 6400 RAM, 8800gts on a P5N-E motherboard. Basically im having sound issues, everything else seems to work fine, but im not getting any sound at all apart from when im in the main menu screen. The only thing i can think of is that i dont have a sound card that supports the required whatever it is. Could someone please tell me what the problem is and/or point me in the direction of a way to fix it. Thanx in advance

What speaker system do you have ? think it's possibly set for 5.1 when you don't have 5.1 speakers ? Had this problem a while ago with mine and thats what it turned out to be.

Re: I know its for another part but noones looking

Ok, couple of things to check

    1) If you run the speaker jack around the port on the back with the speakers on, does it crackle (i.e. is there power to the speakers)

    2) Is the sound option turned on inside the BIOS, if so are there any related settings.

    3) Are there any messages in Windows, is the software loaded properly? Can you get into volume control?

Re: I know its for another part but noones looking

So you're using the on board audio, have you installed the drivers for the on board sound, check in device manager to see if there any devices with exclamation marks against them and lastly are you sure you've plugged the speakers into the correct jack socket on the mobo.

Re: I know its for another part but noones looking

Sounds like a driver problem. What drivers did you install on the PC for the motherboard? Check the manufacturers website for the latest version for the onboard sound and install them

Also, what os are you running?

I take it you didnt build this yourself? Where did you buy it from? Do they have a support line?

Go here and download the latest sound driver for your os.
    http://support.asus.com/download/dow...5N-E%20SLI

    If XP, get V6.0.1.5350
    If Vista, get V5.10.0.5324

What makes you think drivers should automagically install themselves for you?.. Get over to Asus's website as per s_kinton's suggestion and download the latest drivers for your Operating System. Also, iTunes is malware, stick with a more reliable media player, WMP11 is decent now.
