TunnelRat, i am very pleasantly astonished to see someone in your shoes speaking plainly, and it impresses me.
Loads of posts here about "what system is best" blah blah are from individual points of view who are talking about 1 or 2 systems they have used (myself included), whereas someone from your viewpoint will have a far greater reaching experience.
Thank you for that, and please don't be shy in the future.
I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

i must admit that spec seems kinda crazy, though i wonder if he could be involved in gaming programmer or CAD design studies/engineer, sisne CAD a monster of eating up pcs....

love to see the final spec which he went for and how much it cost alltogether, must say though going to love to see what it looks like, also how he going to fit it into a pc case..

    i think someones squirming.....

I personaly think max you can spend on a top notch pc is 2.5k but if your pc is your work pc and his work involves high graphics process then by all means i totaly see why he would need the power.

or he just filthy rich and wants to stick one up to the poor mortals like ourselfs who live in squaller tryign to survive the credit crunch....

Re: I built a BEAST PC and I need your opinion

Why buy a Suburu WRX STi when you can afford a Bugatti Veyron or a Pagani Zonda?

ie. if you can afford the best, why compromise... I know if I had the funds I'd have some serious kit to play with (not just my computer, I lust after the best of everything! )

WRX STi = a fabulous sports car within the realms of the mere mortal = £1000-£1500 PC
Veyron & Zonda = insane super cars that only a handful can possess = £3000+ PC

    Interesting analogy.

Impreza STi, a car that is generally bought to be used everyday and can have most of it's power enjoyed and utilised on a regular basis

    Veyron and Zonda, Probably not.

There's also the comapative costs to run and replacement parts which fit that analogy

I'd also like to see a Veyron or Zonda handbreak turn around a tight 180 degree dirt road. Expensively entertaining, I'd wager.

My stance is pretty much 'as long as you know what you are buying, getting it would make you happy even at that cost and the cost isn't beyond your mean'.

About the machine, I have no problem with Creative hardware (business policies is another story) under XP, but given the machine being built, you might get the Elite Pro. It's the only one in the X-Fi series with superior DAC (relative to sound cards).
