They are coming out after the Core i3 and Core i5 is being released in early January. The Core i3 and Core i5 dual cores will have HT enabled and are built on a 32nm process and have a 45nm IGP integrated on the processor in the form of a MCM package.

    More details:

    http://www.guru3d.com/news/intel-to-...-january-3rd-/

After this the Core i9 will be released on a 32nm and no doubt the socket 1366 Core i7 and socket 1156 Core i5 and Core i7 processors will follow a few months later. The 32nm process will be used by intel for a while longer. TBH, I could wait another 6 months to 9 months until the newer Core i5 and Core i7 processors are released and BTW DDR3 RAM and the associated motherboards will have dropped in price too as socket 1156 becomes mainsteam for the Intel platform. TBH, I would rather not pay the premium in price and potential initial bugs for being an early adopter for any entirely new processor socket.

Either guarantee yourself a LOTES socket by buying one of the high end eVGA boards, or take the 50/50 chance on the DFi/Other boards and if you get a foxconn socket, return it under the distance selling regulations, rinse and repeat until satisfied with a LOTES socket (it may start to cost some in postage though...)

Or try and get a nice e-tailer, on the telephone to check it while you're waiting and when they find a LOTES one get them to put it to one side for you, guaranteeing a decent board with less hassle...

I don't see the point in impulse buying a 45nm Core i5 when Intel themselves are actually winding down use of this process for all of their processors from January onwards. Also USB3, PCI-E 3.0 and third generation SATA are also appearing next year too.
Meh!! Maybe I am just quite patient when it comes to upgrades.

iv had this motherboard for like 3 years.... iv been extremely patient with it. I have had my case for like 4 years, thats patience! Its hardly impulse i have been considering it for ages.

CPU and GPU yeah i havent had that long but i have upgraded my monitor and it doesnt do aswell as i would like anymore

I am surprised that your motherboard is giving issues only after three years!!
I am still using a 975x with my Q6600 BTW!!

The 975x is in a Shuttle case which has been carted around a bit on the train and by car. Being an SFF PC it tends to be a bit easier to do than a full ATX case!!

iv been tempted to do an SFF PC but the lack of hard drive space and support for extended graphics, whilst far better now still puts me off.

I may wait it out i just really hate the idea of £60+ on something which will get like 2-3 months use

Have you looked at the SG02 and SG03 BTW??

Even if you are limited to two to three hard disks you can always use an external hard disk via the E-SATA ports many motherboards have. Also if you use an SSD as one drive it can always be tucked away somewhere in the case due to their small size.

Re: Interesting article about potential issues with socket 1156 sockets!!

yeah i watched a couple of these builds on the forums but i want my next build to have RAID1 ont he storage drives and RAID 0 on OS drives... SSDs are still not at a price point which makes sense. IMO it has to be close to £1 per GB before i will consider. Esata is ok for backing things up but i dont want to have things hanging out the back permanantly. Suppose i could use 2 x laptop drives (WD Black or Seagate Momentus) for the OS and 2 x regular drives for storage?

Going a bit off topic here though >_<

I've still got the SG03B sitting around, waiting for it to be utilised, although will only be using it as a desktop daily usage machine, no gaming etc...feels a bit of a waste I know.

Re: Interesting article about potential issues with socket 1156 sockets!!

Some personal good news about this.

I've defenately got a foxconn socket on my msi p55-gd65 and I finally got hold of a i5 750 today.
    (I bought it from Pingu2003)
I carefully inspected the pads before I did a test fit, seeing as this was 2nd hand, the marks left behind where the rought buff in the center of each pad, looking the same as the marks left behind by the Tyco AMP / LOTES socket in that artical.

So time to see what it'll be like after I've fitted it in my motherboard.

(I may try to take a pic tomorrow, but I don't know if my camera will be up to it)

The resault was the little sharp pin prick like depressions (both the back plate and socket cover are clearly labled Foxconn and this seems the final proof)

However, after close inspection with a magnifing glass, every pad had a pin prick none where missed out.
What's more unlike in the artical where a lot of the pads had two pin pricks, one on each side of the pad, mine left a single pin prick in the center of each pad.

I double checked it was in correctly and tried fitting it a 2nd time, same reasult, although some pads now have a 2nd pin prick slightly off from the first, but still roughtly in the middle.

I can only guess that there was a dodgy batch where the pins where not quite in correct alignment, leading to some having 2 marks and some having none.

So if I where you check your cpu pads before you get overly worried.

Another though has struck me, considering that all these cpu's where stress tested at extreme overclocks could the issue in the artical be caused by an overly tightened cooler/waterblock?
Causeing the pins to get pressed down too far there by miss-aligning?

Or perhaps making the board bend about the socket?
