I will reboot (not done that in about 4weeks) and try again with all programs closed.

Should also note that I am on air so maybe thermal throttling (didnt notice it doing it though with the intel gadget)

Re: Hexus HandBrake charts - who has the greatest multi-threaded POWER!!??

I think that the score for the 4GHZ Core i7 2600K will increase a bit but not massively if you look at the scores of the the other Core i7 2600K processors.

Even then the clock for clock increase will be less than 10% over the socket 1366 Core i7 CPUs. The fact is that Sandy Bridge started with much higher base clocks when compared to the socket 1156 and 1366 Core i7 CPUs and has more aggressive Turbo too. This is why the reviews give the impression that the clock for clock increase is bigger.

Probably worth noting that those who are running TuboBoost, when all cores are under the kosh it still runs one speed bin higher than 'stock' - so a 2600K is actually @ 3.5GHz, not 3.4GHz.

    Every little helps right?

    Quick re-test on the 2600k @ 4.0GHz

    Tron
    44.013fps - 17:20:56 to 17:22:18 82secs
    Splice
    30.324fps - 17:17:46 to 17:19:35 109secs
    BBB
    43.629fps - 17:11:05 to 17:16:34 330secs

Slight improvement but not a lot
