Re: Hexus HandBrake charts - who has the greatest multi-threaded POWER!!??

    Gave it a go on my good old T2130 laptop (stock 1.86GHz) w/ 2GB PC5300 & 320GB scorpio (5,400rpm).

    1) Tron: avg 3.47fps | time 17m28.682s
    2) Splice: avg 2.57fps | time 21m33.232s
    3) Big Buck Bunny: avg ~3.85fps | ETA >1 hour <-- I didn't wait for it to finish, too obscene a wait

Big problem with handbrake on this CPU, it only seems to use MMX2, it ignored SSE entirely, even though the CPU supports SSE1/2/3. It looks like they're using a primitive whitelist method for checking SIMD support. Hence the big frame processing rate hit.

I am surprised that I am the only one to run this on a Mac, I thought there were more apple users on this site than just me

Won't be the SSD. I compared my SSD to my 5400rpm and only found 1 second difference with the quickest encode.

Oh yeah, and I should point out that the source and target directories were on a RAID0 volume of 3 500gb drives.

Re: Hexus HandBrake charts - who has the greatest multi-threaded POWER!!??

It does seem for HandBrake encoding the Phenom II X6 and socket 1366 Core i7 CPUs are quite similar in speed at similar clockspeeds. The socket 1155 Core i7 processors don't seem to be too far ahead of both CPUs though.

    Edit!!

When are we informing Bit-Tech of our results?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

I want to make sure we get a spread of results with as many repeats as possible!!

I still think they would say they use a special video which only works better on Intel and no one else in the world has!!

    Edit!!

We also need a few more Athlon II X3,Athlon II X4,Phenom II X4 and Core i5 results too! There is not a single Core i5 result in the table.

Ah, as i originally promised - I'll get some results for everything from a Phenom II X2- X5 (I'm assuming the cache drops as if it was a proper X3 et al?)

The cache remains constant. So I would aim for a Phenom II X3 and/or Phenom II X4 with Turbo Core switched off.
