Yes it is a bit of a mess. Like I said, I set out to build something made out of brass and mahogany - I ended up with something different (a goddamn mess but it flies like a bird).
As for where it came from - I spent so much on components that I needed to economise on the case, which is where the nice, insulating wooden cabinet came from. It also gives it a degree of immunity from any burglary attempt (not the sort of thing you can pick up and throw on the back seat of your Nova).
The dust will get burned off when the pump in the Zalman fails.
This is the other side of the rig (last photo) - not too convenient for CD swapping (but I don't do much of that)
bootvis was reporting a sub 9 second boot to a fully loaded OS with drivers, when I added bluetooth it went up to 14 though sold one of my raptors now as I went back to SCSI. There is a serious amount of crud in windows you can disable if you dont need it, and bootvis will even tell you what is taking the time!
Nox
I take my hat off to you fthlagen!
That is one fine PC, the most original I've ever seen!
Well done to you sir! That's one finger in the eye of contemporary design and two fingers to the chav, nova driver.
Back on Topic:
Hmm.. I don't believe these superquick boot times either...
Any proof anyone? MPEG showing startup maybe....?? With a stopwatch mind! And a copy of a news paper in view to show you are not getting it from the TARDIS or someting...

No one want to take up the challange? Come on, there must be at least one of you super-booters who has the ability to record it?!?
(or are u just fibbing??)
