Any ex-EQ or WoW players feel like giving a brief comparison please?

Currently toying with the idea of trying it but more worried about gameplay elements then technical issues (as these are likely to be ironed out fast anyway).

im currently rank(lvl) 15 discple of kaine (melee healer)

so far, compared to WoW:

Public quests - awesome if people are about. good chance of getting loot if you participate a lot. participating gains you influence which you get reward items from.

questing in general is easier- red "markers" on your map show you were to go for the quests

moving around - no 15 minute flights from org to tanaris, you dont need to have been to the major places to fly there. also running around is much easier. some races run faster than others

RvR(pvp):

you NEED tanks in pvp, to do just that, tank people. as you cant phsyically run through people the tanks can block you out. its more stratigical. you gain XP from doing rvr scenarios, so you can level up. you also build renown when you rvr, for buying items.

rvr zones: i can see big epic world pvp battles going on, trying to take/defending keeps. also you can resurrect in combat which i think is great for team play.

overall, i havent touched wow since i started this. i am enjoying it a lot, and i think they have done a good job.

Hmmm, tanking in PvP sounds quite interesting.....Quite like the sound of faster travel as well.

I used to do a mix of raiding and PvP (always preferred BGs over arena though).......Just got sick of wasting so much time trying to keep 3 sets of gear up-to-date to be competitive.

Experienced Wow'er and now playing with Warhammer:

Sorry to but in and ask a couple of real N00b questions but having just experimented with a couple of lvl 1 characters and experiencing alot of 'German?' or what looks like German on all the quest descriptions and chat text - is it me having a setting wrong - or am I expected to understand it?

Also having just started on a core server are there any obvious things I need to do? - I guess if i could inderstand the text it would probably be self explanatory!

BTW - sofar no crashes - runs smoothly etc etc

im on karak eight hours, oops, i mean karak eight peaks... the fullest destruction server there is. its kinda sucky

yesterday i witnessed my first HUGE rvr battle. we were tryng to take one of their keeps (large fortress) both sides had siege weapons, it was about 30v30.. absolute madness... its good because when you go into an rvr zone, if you are too high a lvl to be in there, you get turned intoa chicken and are totally useless... while the lower level people get "bolstered" up to a suitable level (although you dont get the skills you would if you were actually that level)

to cut a long story short, we made into the keep first floor, then got surrounded! i was being "save da runts" by my tank friend (50% of my damage goes to him) and healing up/ressing people inside, making tyhe occasional kill.

i really really cant wait to witness full battles at max level. its going to be mad!

OK, now I have got past the fact I was logged to a german server I have had a few hours of play and got a level 6 sorcerer. I've found it very similar to WoW in some ways - but different in the way it goes about it. For example when undertaking a quest the area of that quest is highlighted on the main map so when you have a 'batch' of quests you can easily see from the map where to go in order.

The graphics are much improved, and even with my 1920x1200 res my 8800GTS is pretty good so not TOO taxing graphically. Sound placement also seems better.

Have not done too much pvp or rvr yet but I love the way you get XP and RP (honour) from pvping.

All in all so far it's a thumbs up, havent got the confidence to turn off my WoW just yet but I haven't logged on to WoW since I started, so who knows.......................

I am only a level 10 black orc atm and I am constantly hitting the RvR and getting pwned by the level 15+ xD its far to good in RvR.

Only issue us Euro players have now is that there is no way for us to pay for the subscription after our 30 day play time included with the game runs out. I spoke to WAR-Europe and they say its going to be in place as soon as possible. They messed up with the payment system for the European players. The American system is in place, ours is still greyed out on the billing site :/

Just been away for a week to find my guild had moved server because of the queues Worst of all they have swapped from Destro to Order and I really wanted to play a Black Orc. I've tried the Ironbreaker and don't like it much, guess I'll give the Swordmaster ago and see how I get on.

I hope your not surprised by this? It was always going to be on the cards.

It's not like it's a big issue really though is it?

I mean if by some chance that they have not sorted out the payment system by the time the first players are due to make their first payments, it's not like they are going to stop everyone playing. I hope they would have the sense to let everyone carry on playing for free if needed until they have sorted out the problem.

I've only just registered my code for my CE, so I guess I have 30 days from today.
