Still getting better, was top of the scores. All that time in Red Orchestra probably helped.
Yeah, that was fun. So many first time players who hadn't even read the manual though.

    Re: ArmA 2

Yeah this is true. Loads of us were getting the hump with the randoms as well because frankly they were acting like idiots. At least we had admin controls to kick the real trouble makers. The iGi server has always been private so we're not really used to seeing someone drive the spawn vehicle into the middle of the hot zone (why?!)

So, with this in mind we're going to close the server next week at some point and invite Hexus peeps only along to an evenings session where we're all on Mumble VOIP and can have a proper go.

I'll post up a new thread about it over the weekend.

    Re: ArmA 2

Just placed an order for the game, hopefully should arrive by the beginning of next week.

Not doubting it will be a change from CoD4 and BF2, so I'll just have to hope I can get into it reasonably quickly

    Re: ArmA 2

Just a quick hello from me and to lend some credence to Lowe's appraisal of the slightly less team-oriented "players" and their hilarious antics you may have encountered on .:iGi:. server.

I've just been reading through the ArmA related stuff on your forum and I see a few posters that I recognise as having been on our server the past couple of days - nice to be able to put names to faces, so to speak

As Lowe says, we'll be locking the pubby server down so you can get a real taste of what it's like to play ArmA and we hope to see you there (that's if some of the displays of foolishness you may have witnessed from some of the *ahem* less than switched on players on the server hasn't put you off for good.)

Never be afraid to ask for advice or guidance from any of us: we were all new to the game once so we're more than happy to help.

On a side note: I'll stand up for Lowe re TK-ing because he's really not the one you need to watch out for; a certain McMav (who's name I see cropping up in your forums) is the one to watch out for. When he says he's got your back - brother, you'd better watch your back, is all I'm saying

Have fun and see you around.

    .:iGi:. Egg

Did i dissapoint you lot? i followed orders pretty well, worked as a team and pretty much enjoyed the experience has a whole although i spent most of time standing waiting for you Lowe to come back with the chopper or waiting on aditional orders after finding the pilot that crashed(thought it was you) which was a side misison yet one of us lot killed the pilot!!!

i will be on tonight for sure and try to contribute a bit more what did you think of me Lowe?

We're not on about you Josh, more the idiots who don't realise that taking spawns near red zones is a no no just because they can't be arsed to tab for a min.

As for your play, i cant comment specifically since its difficult to see exactly what one person is doing in the middle of a war. The score board is useless too because a lot of important actions go unscired, I.e taking a tower down etc

yea exactly. for example, people like you who are very useful for transporting us to certain areas deserve a load of points for that

I'd be interested in this. Arma really needs to be played with everyone on voice (group chat, rather than global) so we can work as a team. Then you really get the drama and immersion.

You spawned into the slot of a player who had died. Hit escape and take a new slot or wait for new mission.

Well just played for a grant total of about an hour and got two kills.

Im finding it quite hard to spot enemy from a distance, let alone where I am being shot at from.
So much space to cover, so much to learn as well.
Would be good if I could get on with a bunch of noobs to give it a whirl.

You just got to take your time, like soldiers in real life. Charging about COD4-style will get you a bullet in the head.

You'll soon get to grips with it. But I've been playing Operation Flashpoint/Arma for five years and still get my backside handed to me on several occassions.

    Re: ArmA 2

I played a few random servers with a player coutn no less then 30 and i must say it was enjoyable and just like the igi servers tbh.

Lots of people where playing like a team. pilots picking us up from the carrier and dropping us in a suitable LZ, No team killing whatsoever and good communication via text as well. i have never had that experience in other fps games against randoms.

    Re: ArmA 2

I need to figure the text thing out to be honest, not bothered looking at how to talk yet, want to get used to the game first.

Haha Simon, I was being super sneaky and tactical, running along massive tree lines instead of out in the open for one thing, how do you think I managed to sneak up on a vehicle and put a rocket up its backside, then I managed to sneak up on a sniper..while looking for another vehicle I could hear moving around, needless to say I opted for the rocket rather than the M16 and blew him to hell....then i got flattened by the vehicle I was looking for.

    More tonight after work hopefully.
