    Re: World of Tanks

Just getting back into this at the moment. Tier 3 on the Russian Arty and tier 2 on the Russian AT. Going to take a while to get further than that though, even with premium.

    Re: World of Tanks

When are the British tanks being added? Fancy trying the game out again. I played the beta a fair bit but I've not played the alpha release yet.

Thinking of starting when the British tanks are added.

    Re: World of Tanks

Is there a hexus group on this? I'm slowly grinding my way up the Russian SPG (level 4) and Tank Destroyer (level 3/4) routes but it can get a tad depressing without team support.

    Re: World of Tanks

I think all the guys playing still are in more serious clans.

We had a few games in Beta iirc with Alan! Would be up for some games but all my tanks are higher tier . Can platoon up if I'm not busy; when 8.1 comes out then sure I'll be up for a few games at lower tiers.

    Re: World of Tanks

Domestic, are you still playing? Or anyone else from Hexus when we played together early last year?

I re-installed this over the weekend after not playing for a loooooong time, and I have to say the changes, updates and new features are brilliant!

I created a new account to force myself to play the lower few tiers again whilst I re-adjusted, because I tried to play a T7 game and got my backside handed to me, but I think I'll go back to my main account soon and play with the higher levels once more, see what I can get up to.

Would be great to see if anyone is around for some fun because team work still seems key, although at the lower levels I have dominated a couple of matches on my new account, I even killed over 50% of the enemy team in one match!

I actually did the same this weekend as well. Only played a little bit though, as after a few games I looked to see how long it would be to get to T6 in my PzIV, and realised it would take a while without premium! However, for a go every now and again, it's not bad. I hadn't noticed a lot of change actually; a bit more polished, and noticed some new skills for my crew. I haven't studied the tech trees to research the new tanks yet though.

I've also applied to the closed beta of World of Warplanes. Always been more of a fan of WWII planes than tanks, so hoping that will hold my interest more.

The new physics are rather fun; being able to launch yourself off a small cliff in a JT to squash a scout below you is most amusing.

    Re: World of Tanks

Hmm, looks interesting, might give it a go.

Watched a few vids online, but the combat looks a bit bland... do you just go around shooting other tanks all day? Does it require any skill, and does the damage model have any complexity like in the RO games?

    Re: World of Tanks

Yup there are bases you capture too. but its 15 vs 15 in normal game mode. Other modes have variations

you damage modules on tanks. not sure what RO is.....

Well worth a go. I've got 2 years out of it now.

    Re: World of Tanks

    RO = Red Orchestra

They had quite a sophisticated damage model where the damage done is dependent on things like which part you hit, and the angle of incident. You can also damage specific parts of the tank to disable them in different ways. You can even get 1 hit kills if you hit for example the ammo storage.

    Re: World of Tanks

the same then. its mostly frustrating though. repeatedly taking out someones driver for 0 damage over and over is not much fun.

Amoo racking and setting tanks on fire are the luckiest things you can do.

Had a good game this morning in my SU-8. Only got another 100,000k of research to go to the SU14..... going to take a while.

The biggest issue I have is going up in a T5 Arty against T9 tanks. You really have to get the angles right in order to damage them.

    Re: World of Tanks

Am really trying to get back into this, but am struggling... I had a great time in tier 1 and 2 on the US tanks, had almost a 70% win ratio and in most matches was getting 2-3 kills, sometimes as high as 7-8, but now I am at tier 3 on all of them, I am losing about 80% of the time and can't understand why (just plain old bad luck or what?). I'm guessing it's to do with the tier matching, in tier 1-2 tanks, I only ever played other tier 1-2's and the odd 3, now I am in tier 3 I am ALWAYS put up against tiers 3-6, most of 4-6 I cannot hit at all.

In my TD and arty I get one shotted by lights and my shots mainly bounce, in my light and medium I get one shotted by TD's and arties and my shots normally miss or again bounce... And then there's the apparent "invisible" tanks issue where a tank that I am aimed at is in plain line of sight suddenly disappears into thin air then shoots and kills me from another location, despite me sitting still inside a bush and they are out on an open field.

    It's getting incredibly frustrating.
