    Re: World of Tanks

Firewall would be my guess, post on the WOT forums, sure they'll know.

Good fun tonight Ginger, despite MM's usual unkindness. You two were much better than me, but that's to be expected. Have to do it again.

    Re: World of Tanks

WoT is limited to a single core and they have been saying they will make it multicore but its not a 'priority'.

Was fun; a few shockers though. Planetwot is quite good too see how you did if you're into stats. P9, 2.6k damage avg, 687xp avg, only 56% WR though! Still chuffed about my Ace tanker in my E-75, I can sell it now. You were pretty good last night; I think the fact we both have about 12k battles is the only difference.

Only realised last night how our platoon mate sounded like Arnie when he gets animated!

    Re: World of Tanks

How can this thread be dying when World Of Tanks is still so awesome. New engine coming looks much better and physics seems to be a big improvement to casual game-play. I haven't bought another game since I got this and rFactor over six months ago. Come on folks. Actually that reminds me I must see i there is a thread about where games are going. I think PC is best games device, but I worry about where it's headed.

    Re: World of Tanks

Chuck; you on Premium yet and who did you join? If that isn't premium then its really impressive!

The thread is not that active because everyone who playing uses their clans forum. the game has been around for ages and alot of people have stopped playing.

I have my reservations about the new engine; it may look nice but it will still be single core. Physics is going to get abused and I think they have alot to do to get it to work. Light tanks were getting detracked on rough terrain and based on the standrd of alot of players the attrition rate due to terrain is going to be horrendus even before combat begins.

    Re: World of Tanks

Yeah that's on premium, had some spare pennies this month, treated myself to a week on the current offer to soften the E-75 grind and a type 59 to never worry about silver again gone from 0 to 2million in 3 days just playing it when my KT was out of action, that tank is just ridiculous. First round in it I tracked a lowe, only shot I fired and got ammo racked a second later, dead less than a minute in, still walked away 30k up.

    Joined up with KIA2.

I think you're right about the attrition, players already seem to have problems with cliffs and they can't even drive off them yet.

    Re: World of Tanks

KIA was my last clan; they were going through a reshuffle when I left. Should still be alot players I played with there.

I had a look around when we talked; but like you said no one wants to recruit players without tier 10s.

    Re: World of Tanks

Didn't realise you'd been in KIA. yeah it's a case of you need a tier X to join or they're just a terrible clan. Found a couple that would take a T8 both ended up having massive flame wars between their own members right in the recruitment thread.

KIA's recruitment thread was a diamond in the proverbial.

Every time I see this thread bumped I get the urge to play, but every time I play I get fed up with the grind.

Has there been any major changes to this recently? Still stuck on tier 5/6 IIRC...

    Re: World of Tanks

No changes. Pay to play makes it faster as intended. The Game gets sooo much better at tier 8.

I find having enough tanks to play at one time helps with the grind. atm I have a 704, E50, 212, GW tiger, ARL V39, JPIV (must be one of the biggest POS), KV-1S (for KV13) and the tier 5 french arty. I just try to get doubles for the bad tanks. Loads of other tanks I need crew skills on too. Loving the x5 xp atm!

    Re: World of Tanks

I've never really understood the problem with the grind. I play t1 through to t8 but I'm not massively interested in gaining all tanks, or getting to t10. I compare it favourably to counter strike. Every round is it's own game, so I end up playing with two tanks pretty much all of the time (KV-4, SU-100) and although my Su-100 now has crew with nearly two perks at 100%, that's not a driving factor. I just love shooting stuff in this tank, just like I like clicking on heads in counter strike :-)

The worst thing about the game is the sheer cost of the t8s ( and I presume above ), so I've got a premium tank to top up credits and occasionally free xp if I'm feeling flush.

Because of that instant feedback factor and the fact that the game itself is so much fun I can forgive it an awful lot though. Ultimately I find it more consistently rewarding than any MMO, but it retains that sense of long term investment paying off.

    Re: World of Tanks

The Russian heavies and TDs are not bad lines to grind; the worst is probably the T-28. There are some real stinkers on the other lines. Unless you are converting free XP it can be quite tough. Can't believe you play the KV-4, that thing looks awful.

On premium credits are not a problem if not then a premium tank really helps to make up any losses but being able to afford the higher tier tanks is a grind in itself.

Got a T1 Cunningham and loving it atm!

Physics patch in 8.0 released today!

E4 nerfed badly and T-50-2 is supposed to have lost some turning.
