PzIV with the L/70 is a blast to play and a good money maker; the 3001 etc look a little light admittedly. Trying the VK3601 which is okay but crippled by a lack of decent guns until the short 88 (not there yet and even then it lacks some penetration). Saving up to get the Hummel (unlocked) atm from the PzIV.
Yeah I was enjoying the PzIV with the L70 but I upgraded to the VK3001 and sold it. Should've just kept it. I have the L70 for the VK so its definitely more useable now but the armour is so light that you really need to be careful. I tend to try to snipe a little with it and make occasional forays behind their lines if I see an opening and try to ruin their TD or arty's day.
Can't wait to have a go in the Russian higher tier mediums - they look lethal.

    Re: World of Tanks

Just got my T29 and what a difference from the M6. Got the same 90mm gun as the M6 at the moment but with the extra armour its like night and day. I've lost two out of 12 matches with it and got 9 kills in one match. Can't wait to try the 105mm.

Also - after me criticising the cost etc. I gave in and bought the Lowe on payday after seeing comments about up to 150k per battle (I know - I'm a hypocrite). They were right. A bad game with it will still see you come away with 40k but I had a good game with it (no kills but a lot of damage) and walked away with 129k. Probably average 60k to 90k per match (on premium).

    Re: World of Tanks

If anyones looking for a clan I'm currently playing in KIA2. Plenty of slots available. CW is 6:30 - 7:30. Ideally higher tier the better but we're not picky!

TS is a must though. PM me here or ingame if you would like more info.

WoT is still going? Is it any different from release? Got very bored with the grind and that was only at tier 5... Can't imagine how mind numbing it must be to get any higher!

    Re: World of Tanks

Last I heard I think it has 3 million registered players.

The grind isn't that bad, you just have to know the limitations of the kit you are using at the time although I'll admit the balance does sometimes get a bit screwy.

I'll play WoT for around 20 minutes then rage quit. Is there a sane reason for having the match making the way that it is? Really, seeing m2 meds in with jadpz4s :/ not to mention the impossible grind at tier 6 with a non-premium account Theres plenty of users online and games enter instantly surely people would prefer to wait 30secs to enter a balanced game

    Re: World of Tanks

M2 (t3) in a tier 6 game is pretty bad tbh. just wait till you get the m3 lee; thats painful.

I grinded to t7 okay without premium; They had an offer on premium last weekend so got a weeks and now on my IS-3. Family is away for 3 weeks so i should get my IS-4 before they change the tech tree! Still enjoying it although tier steps in armour and stock tanks is getting painful sometimes. The germans short 88 and long 75 don't really cut it against t8s. However the long 88 is a very special gun. Soviets do get quite a big advantage imo in that the 100/107/122 (they're quite similar in DPM and pen.) see you through t5 to t7.

So long as no-one is shooting at me I'm still having a whale (or is it wail?) of a time!

    Re: World of Tanks

Completely addicted now (I am weak against teh powers of temptation); this game is far too much fun.

I've found the game only gets better as you get through the tiers. Currently at t9 with an IS-4 and working upwards; being only one tier below the top dogs you're never completely outgunned. The games seem much closer fought.

Playing three men platoons on TS adds a whole new dimension to the random battles. You can co-ordinate and it hugely improves your win ratio. The combinations of Hvy/Med/TD allow you to keep changing tactics and trying new stuff (especially with a BL-10 on your team!).

The only problem with platoons is that when you do it with all available clan members, it takes literally ages to collect exp. One goes smoking, the other goes to the toilet, another ended up in campinovaka...

    Most scary platoons imo are:
    3x Maus
3x T30 (Anything but Maus will die in first volley)
    3x T-54 (if done correctly)

    Re: World of Tanks

The chances of the 50% win bonus and the chance to be sociable more than make up for 'breaks'. (By the way I'm the smoker so of course I think they're fine!) I'm turning into a back seat driver to my shame though. I haven't got to t10 yet although t10 games do take a long time as they are so artycentric.

    You mean t-54?

    Re: World of Tanks

    Yep, T-54.

I don't think that t10 games take that much longer. In my T30 I typically sit in a place where arty can't reach me and waiting for 10 minutes or so for the enemy to drive past isn't uncommon at all. It all depends on what your teammates and the enemy are doing.

    Hows your clanwars doing?

We've been getting beaten quite alot but we're unable to put out a top tiered team yet. against similar teams we stand an excellent chance of winning!

Don't drive on the open ground. Avoid fighting targets that you have no hope of penetrating from any angles(if you have to, use HE). Don't suicide scout and expect to survive through speed - one shoting light tanks at full speed is easy with enough practise(T-54s are usually the only exception). Hide behind cover if you want to avoid getting killed by artillery(becomes really obvious the bigger the artillery gets). And above all, get a higher tier tank and avoid "crap" tanks (aka short 88) unless you are sure you want to live through the grind.

Here's my take at the nations tanks:
Soviet/Russia is good if you like it close and personal
Germany is good for sniping ( horrible armour and speed at times - the new E-Serie isn't going to change anything imo)
USA is good if you want something different (some tanks are very frustrating - T34 at Tier 9 has practically no armour)

We're on the map! Some settlement in the middle sahara where the majority of the population is probably livestock but we're there!

As discussed last night this game is far too addictive and I should take a break.
