    Re: World of Tanks

When you're in light tanks you get matched against much higher tiers and expected to scout. It's well worth reading the wiki on the main site to understand spotting, penetration and matching mechanics. They aren't remotely intuitive.

You can also download various mods that show enemy armour values and weakspots. Grabbing a month of premium(£8) will greatly speed up your grind too.

KIA2 is still recruiting if you're planning on stick it out, you'll have advice and people to platoon with then. with http://www.kia-clan.info/forums/foru...s-Public-forum Just read the stickies before signing up and Use Dunno1 as a reference.

    Re: World of Tanks

I will check out the wiki, but I don't recall having this much difficulty in game from when I last played. I guess I should go back to my main account and get back into my bigger tanks...

Are those mods "legal"? Any links to them?

I used to be in KIA back in the day, I just logged into their site so my account is still active. I'll see if I can pop in another app.

    Re: World of Tanks

Can anyone help me with tier info on clans? I've read many times that you really need a tier 10 to get into clan gaming. Is this really the case?

I've got three tier 8s (1 TD,2 Heavies), and am getting closer to a tier nine heavy but don't know if it's worth trying clan warfare or not just yet?

In all fairness to my TD, I don't fear any tank in the game as long as I'm sniping. Close ambush attacks on T10 heavies are not the best idea though, which is a shame as I love ambushing in the Su-100 where this is an effective tactic up to at least a tier higher than the Su.

    Re: World of Tanks

Clan wars is end game and you need to be playing tier 10 so as not to put your team at a dis-advantage. You can try playing clan wars with a tier IX but it is going to be pretty un rewarding as likely any team using tier 9s will probably be pants. Fighting these clans is not any fun either as more often than not you get crappy doubles.

I suggest you find a clan people and people to play together in company and platoons. Its nice to have a community feel too.

    Re: World of Tanks

@the_gull, some clans only recruit high tier players, other clans, like mine (-TXG-) will take lower tier tier players and help them grind with platoons and tank companys, we have a quiet a few players in tiers 6-8 that are grinding up for there bigger tanks, so theres room there if your intrested, hit me up in game, and look for the name Fynn666 for more info, oh and we're a UK based clan as well.

    Re: World of Tanks

I've just upgraded to the SU-152 (t7) now which was interested. Very slow and a very long load time (longer than my su-8) but couldn't add any of the consumables to it as they went over the weight limit. Just ground over 15k today and managed to upgrade the suspension, added the required modules and the tank suddenly comes more bearable.

Now to work on the 30k of remaining xp for the SU-14 (which again is rubbish in stock form)

    Re: World of Tanks

1stRaven: Wait 'til you get ISU-152 and are one shot killing IS'es (That's a tier eight killing a tier seven in a single shot. (I did get an ammo rack explosion, but even so, Oh how I laughed)) for fun... It's a great tank, although still not as much fun as the SU-100, which I reckon I'll keep forever providing it doesn't get nerfed. It's not like either of them are overpowered. If I get out of position or lose backup in either I die very quickly. It's just so much fun to do so much damage so quickly :-) The ISU-152 is also the quickest route (in terms of XP) to get a tier X gun and see what kind of damage you can do toward the end game and in clan wars (although i haven't checked out the new TD lines, so this could have changed recently).

Only another 50k to go until the Isu-152 so looking forward to that with the comments above.

Also enjoying the 203mm in the su-14. Can do so much damage with a direct hit. One shotted an IS3 the other day.

the x3 multipler works nicely as well

    Re: World of Tanks

AFAIK camo doesn't really work on big arties; I imagine you can fit vents. I think clutch breaking, smooth ride and the one that reduces dispersion when moving gun are the most useful on an arty; of course when all your crew have BIA that is probably the most useful. Sixth sense is very useful when you get a 261. The 212 and SU-14 are too slow to do much about being spotted.

The dispersion on the 152 is much worse than the object. On the object you need to give it a couple more seconds after the reticle stops shrinking in order to hit stuff.

I would fill my garage if I were you. Doing doubles on crappy tanks is a good way to grind past them faster.

Best tank I played recently is probably the black prince; a beast on city maps, would highly recommend getting one.

Finally managed to get some tier 5 tanks... must say I like the KV-1!

Can someone point out the point of the Leopard? I really enjoy playing it, but more often than not am just target practice for the first tier 9 that spots me!

    Re: World of Tanks

I hated the Leopard and did badly in it. When you're top tier its excellent. Its not easy to play as I found it not very manouverable as an active spotter; you soon realise why people suicide scout in it. Camo net and binocs work if you can get to the choice bushes. For all the pain and misery you get the VK2801 afterwars and that is a killer. Just be thankful you're not in the M5.

As with all light tanks you need to last to about the 9-10 minute mark when the game breaks down; your mobility then begins to shine (if you're 45%/600 top tiers haven't died).

Got the T-71 on sunady and it is the daddy.

    RE: Leopard
Well, I've still got 12k to grind before I think of the 2801 Maybe over the XMas break... Think I'll try some of the bolt-on goodies to see if they make it easier. The Leopard is a brilliant tank in T4/5 battles - I've gained top-gun in some of those, but they are few and far between

    Re: World of Tanks

I really, really, really do try and like this game, but sometimes I feel it's so fixed it's not even funny. Surely I cannot be the only one who thinks this?

75% of the time I get MM'd against opponents my tank absolutely CANNOT do any damage to, and the almost all other times, it seems that not matter how hard I try tiers lower than me, or lights when I'm in a heavy, destroy me with ease as if my armour is made of paper!

I am well aware of the mechanics of the game, hide your weak spots, shoot at enemies weak spots, use cover to your advantage, etc, but sometimes it seems the game just throws all the rules out of the window when I start a game. Like tanks 25m away from you in plain line of sight go invisible. Or when you are right over the other side of the map, in a bush, and they hit you as if you're surrounded by bright neon lights. It's unbelievably frustrating!

Does anyone else feel like this? is it just that I am normally playing in tiers 5-7 and they have the biggest differences in strength between the tiers and I just have to suck it up or stop playing? For example, my T6 heavy (Churchill VII) has 800HP yet is constantly, and I do mean CONSTANTLY, matched against tier 8's with almost DOUBLE the HP and what seems like impenetrable armour, yet if they even fart in my general direction I lose 50% of my health.

Also, does anyone else notice when one of your tanks still has the first win multiplier for the day, you have to lose between 3-5 battles before you get a win? I wish I had recorded this info down somewhere, but for weeks it has felt like this is the case. I have around a 51/48 W:L ratio, so I can't be THAT unlucky. It's almost like they do it to stop people playing a few games per in each tank to get their multiplied exp from wins. Without the multiplier I get a good average of wins and loses, but never 3-5 of either in a row. So odd.
