I've heard its playable with dial-up, but couldn't testify to that and its £10 per month.

yep it twas me , not much sorry but im in the process of moving corp and have already had to cut my ship numbers using insurance scams, losing me around 50 mil in the process

As to the dial up question i think it is perfectly playable on it, just maybe avoid huge fleet battles (like 50+ ships). But it should be fine, apart from downloading the client

Yup, I used to play on dial up. Not really a problem until you come to fleet battles, or crowded newbie zones and it lags like crazy, but other than that, you should be OK. Try out the trial if you wanna see what it's like on dial up before paying to play.

I'll be online tonight, trying to sort out the learning paths for my toons, wanna get my 2 really taught up well whilst I'm not able to regularly play with them. I have lots of investigation to do into the learning paths, but can't do it very well offline.

BTW, does anyone here use any online databases for Eve? I used to have a great one bookmarked but I lost it in my recent crash! Something like Eve X something or other... Really wish I could remember it!

Ahh, it was eve-i.com, but the site seems to be dead now!

BTW, just found this old story whilst searching around for web sites. It's really old, I read it ages ago, but it's a well written story and a lesson for all to learn about online gaming, never trust anyone!

ahh that story. I dont believe it actually happened as corps stay in the database forever even after everyone has left, but iirc that corp is not in the game. Its a tiny scam by todays standards too, there was a scam featured in pc gamer and that was epic, ill try and find a link.

Not really, doesn't look like it's been updated since release...

No Destroyers, no Battlecruisers, no Capital ships... nothing new.

Anyway, what's up with Tranquility? Still not online? Wanted to do a bit of reading before bed time and there's no decent Eve database sites around.

TBH I don't really care if it's real or not, it's quite an amusing read... and still the moral of the story remains, despite it's questionable actuality,

:edit: Sorry, didn't mean to sound harsh, it's just that it's a good read, I never said it was fact.

hehe for a minute there i thought but yep its a tremendous read, true or not, and one of the reasons i decided to give eve another go after a crappy pre-exodus trial i did. It does show how free-form eve allows your gameplay to be as CCP allow this kind of stuff as its "role play".

Tbh though the best scam is this one: http://www.secondlifeherald.com/slh/...am_rocks_.html , seriously who on earth would fall for that? At least nightfreeze was convincing (if real)

Argh missions, used to bore me to death. But of course now they are at least half decent source of income, and a rifter should be able to do maybe 50% of the lvl2 missions around? i know my n00b alt can easily do most lvl2's in his kestrel with practically only starting skills but the rifter isnt quite as friendly to newer players.

What cruiser you planning on masterflash? rupture or stabber? also dont be afraid to have a play with the other races too as it can save alot of pain training for a few months then realising you should have changed to a different race at the start, i know ive tried them all at frigate level (and hated caldari), tried the gallente upto cruisers and got fed up with them. But ive used both amarr and minmatar with battleships and t2 frigs, both are fun but imo minnie edges it especially in pvp as you have the "minmatar advantage" i.e. people either think "oh noes minmatar.... how do you fight them?" and cack themselves and cock up or you get "LOL minmatar, a ship made out of scrap metal, toilet roll tubes and duck tape cant be that hard" and then ofc they get a nasty surprise

I'll be going for the Rupture (although its one ugly mother), been tempted with the Stabber, still not 100% sure. I know the Stabbers faster but the Rupture packs more of a punch.

TBH I hadn't even thought about changing races, my main goal thus far is to get into a Battleship and get my skills trained up, then start earning some serious dosh

Ive just seen I can get lvl 2 missions, so ill try that tonight and see how I get on in my Rifter... fingers crossed

Currently got my electronics, engineering, shield management and upgrades to level 4 almost at the level to learn heavy missiles and then cruise and saving for the Caracal i think it is before I get to the BattleShips/Cruisers and jump in the raven. Once I am there I will start learning the other races skills so I can fly their ships to

Damn the Raven and its uber missile not having to worry about optimum stuff while I am there swaping my hybrid ammo all the time!?! Really don't know how to use hybrid well at the moment. Seems the missiles are alot simpler.

Err anyway, seeing as I am already in a battleship. Do you guys think its worthwhile working on more skills to fly them well, or work towards tech 2 ships, etc. Don't want to waste time on Frigate V and Cruiser V if the tech 2 frigs and cruisers are not as Isk making as the BS you see. As I could use my time learning things that benifit the battleship. Oww, decisions... Also, anyone heard anything on the tier 3 bs's?

If you have been playing a about a month like I have, rack up the shield skills, missiles/rockets to heavy, get electronics and engineering to level 5 to increase your cpu and power caps Possibly get the learning skills to 4 and then focus on items such as electronic warfare, MWD's etc etc

Oh as for hybrid ammo, if this is for a rail/coil gun then look for antimatter charges, either small medium or large depoending on the type of railgun it is. Seems the antimatter give off slightly more damage when they hit Also try and get to the large/capital versions of the weapons you use as soon as you can, the amount of times I have seen my little merlin take out a caracal cruiser due to the player using small missiles on em xD

Hehe, I have been playing for 6 months and have gunnery 5, along with other stuff. I have Large Hybrid rails which I find can't hit very well, even with antimatter rounds. Blasters are ok, but i ahve to have a MWD which is annoying on a Mega cos of cap.

I am working on my other gunnery skills now, like trajectory analyisis, and such. But seem like more effort than missiles in terms of keeping people in optimum ranges etc. The fact I have to have a MWD is annoying, seeing as in a deadspace it does not work, so I lose my optimum fast.

Tempted to go for a Domi instead? I have quite a few drone skills so might be better?
