I'd like to know how many people on here who don't smoke weed think that weed should be legalised....I know it's a bit off topic, but there's a lot of smokers out there who think that tobacco should be banned, but I'm fairly certain there aren't many cannabis users who think that cannabis is justified in its illegal status.

Did I read Steward saying that weed is harmless when smoked without tobacco? Really? I'd be very suprised to hear that the inhalation of anything apart from good quality air (none of this cut ****) has anything other than a detrimental affect on your lungs. A birkenstock wearing friend of my father is currently on the recovery from lung cancer after inhaling nothing but pure weed who might disagree with you....he is now really into baking.....

Simply put. I dont know anyone that has dropped out of uni because of alcohol, yet i can name loads of people that have dropped out becuase of weed, and god knows what else. You can say im a hypocrite but im not. I dont drinkn alcohol because i wanna get drunk and like the effects of it. I drink it cause i enjoy the taste, jsut like ribena . People dont smoke weed or take other drugs for the taste, they take it for the effects. And the effects lead to what i mentioned above

By the way when I went to uni I watched dozens of people flunk the first year due to excess partying, they weren't smoking they were out drinking 5 nights a week. Besides that its nothing to do with alcohol or weed itself that causes people to drop out of school, its simple lack of discipline. If people want to blame it on weed or whatever then that's fine but the way I see it if you do that then you are just a moron not taking responsibility for you own actions.

You know loads of people that have dropped out because of weed, that being hey i'm giving up and going home because i smoke too much?. Pull the other one. The number 1 cause of people giving up uni is because they either don't fit in, become lonely/homesick or fail the courses.

They may fail because they aren't putting the necessary effort in, but lazyness isn't brought on by smoking dope. I'm not going to categorise all dope smokers as lazy, i would say that they tend to be on the whole more laid back than me though.

I also can't buy that you drink alcoholic drinks for the taste without the effect, i don't think its possible to seperate the taste and effect.

Another thing that hasn't even been covered with this is that you have exactly the same social ettiqutes going on with smokers as you do with drinkers. Some drink in their own home on their own, Some drink only when they are with friends, and some do it all the time at every chance. There is so much more detail that its just going to fit by sticking some big classification over it.

I dont care whether it has alcohol in it or not. I just order things i like the taste of. Ive nevr tried non alcoholic beer cause im jsut used to ordering strongbow koppaberg etc. I dont buy it for the alcohol, thats what i mgetting at.

If not having smoked for 10 years counts, then me for one.

I think most drugs should be legalised (and taxed ), even hard drugs as there'd be better control on content (its the impurities& crap that kills many addicts...)

I do favour stronger laws on drink driving though (and would never have *any* alcohol before driving, nor get in a car with a driver who had)

With more than one poster saying they'd be happy to drive or work while stoned,
I'm beginning to think it might be a good idea to keep it banned !

Just to clarify, I never said I would drive stoned or ever have. I said I thought it would be possible to do it based on the fact its possible to do many complicated tasks while stoned.

Obv it's diff for everyone, and sometimes I play a mean game of pro evo whilst stoned, but generally it does affect my reaction time.
I used to smoke A LOT when I was much younger: 14,15,16 - then I started my highers at school and figured it was maybe wise to cut it out for a bit.
A lot of my friends smoke weed pretty regularly, so I know its not the same for them, but I generally only feel comfortable smoking a joint in the same context as I would having more than a few beers.
I'd quite happily have a beer or two in the afternoon if I had work in the evening or a lecture later on. I wouldn't feel comfortable having more than a toke or two on a joint though. Its just how it effects me I suppose.

I don't really smoke regularly anymore, if its offered to me at a party sure but I never buy anymore, and I think it'd be amazing to have it legalised.
Besides, the people who know about weed are the ones with experience, surely they should be listened to here!
