    Exclamation Delivery not attempted

I ordered a package to a relative and the delivery shows as carded.
I have asked my relative to double check and they confirm no card has been left.

I have rescheduled the delivery for Thursday 21st as Wednesday has a possible weather warning in that area.

Anyway as CL page says I can only have one rescheduled attempt I wanted to bring this up as clearly there has been no actual first attempt.

Please could someone check this out and if any further details are required I can send by PM.
    Thanks

(The address is clumsy on the invoice due to house name or number and line1 and area all being required by Scan system. Also I put their name as company name so anyone local or next door would recognise and take the parcel. Furthermore I appreciate the address is in the country and not a major town.)

    Re: Delivery not attempted

It is showing carded again today @09:26, which at 11am when I checked is a surprise.
I contacted my relative to make sure no one had left a card nor to next door. Indeed there was no card.

Can Scan look into this please?
Now it is showing as attempted twice when in fact it has not been attempted at all.

    This leaves 3 possibilities:
    1) The package is wrongly addressed or has the label damaged.

    2) City Link Gloucester are incompetent and cannot find the correct address and/or have carded the wrong address.
In this day and age of Satnav I find that not a possible explanation.

    3) City Link Gloucester are lying through their teeth and in fact have not attempted any delivery because they cannot be bothered to make the extra mileage and want the recipient to collect.

The delivery address is not hard to find, is clearly named and located 1.1 miles along a divided lane B road from a main A trunk route.
IF they have carded anywhere please ask for a description/location.

For me it is not acceptable for City Link (Gloucester) to behave this way.
I require a full explanation from them please. Of course as well as the package actually delivered to its proper destination.

So if someone from Scan could take ownership of this and chase them up please.

Whilst rare in overall delivery terms, its not unheard of especially from CityLink and Parcelforce.

Good ones are always "ran out of time" and "no answer", some couriers even record things like the door colour, which is usually wrong, search these forums for a few posts about such things, its quite a laugh.

Yes I can appreciate out of time or 'its a bit far to go for one drop' but nonetheless this is what they are contracted and paid to do.

The requested delivery address is approximately 40 miles from depot and I can understand there not being too many deliveries out there at any one time. Still it is by no means 'out in the sticks' and is close to a major route.

If they had genuinely attempted two times at the correct address I wouldn't make this post, but they have not even attempted once and now say "you can collect or return to sender".
Its totally unacceptable to be fobbed off with lack of service and lies like this.

Lets hope Scan will talk to City Link and get an explanation and ultimately get the package delivered to where it should go!

    Oh I agree.

Recently I ordered something, wasnt from Scan, and it was sent out by Parcelforce.

I paid extra for Saturday delivery, waited around, at just after 1pm I checked the tracking info and what did it say? "Ran out of time".

I sent Parcelfarce a very abrupt and angry email, they were very appologetic, but it still didnt really help me much.

As far as I am concerned, unless the delivery is some budget, as time/capacity allows, they should keep delivering until theyre out of parcels, the driver dies from exhaustion or something physically blocks access to the address.

Although seeing as though i am making this post anyway

Most of the time it is not the delivery drivers fault, it's the pillocks who load the vans and plan the routes...
For example, a courier at work has recently gained a massive windfall of nicking another companies run, but now the loaders, are loading the vans poorly so a few drivers from the same company are going to the exact same area and covering the same geographical area, rather than just having a vehicle do one location, meaning that they can't make all of the drops, even the drivers complain about the loaders saying that they are putting too much on every time.... For example, yesterday, we had two pallets loaded onto one vehicle for a before 9 delivery, and it was the only thing on the vehicle, but someone had decided to load the pallet that wasn't a before 9 on another driver...

It is hardly ever the drivers fault, but they are the one that gets the grief...

    Re: Delivery not attempted

Yep could be anyone in the chain hence I was bludgeoning the CL Gloucester as an entity rather than any individual until more information is forthcoming.

I do appreciate the drivers have a lot to do, especially on some of the contractor routes they are given the lowest density drops so its an awful lot of leg/roadwork. If they are poorly loaded and/or routed as well it will only exacerbate the issues!

So the occasional "sorry I can't make it today" isn't usually a problem. It would just be nice to be told that upfront as much as possible so you can get on with your day and get a free rescheduling.

CL don't seem to have such an option but I would much rather be told honestly that the parcel isnt coming that day than be told its been attempted when no attempt or card has been left.

Ho hum, anyway David kindly responded within 15 minutes to acknowledge my OLQ and says he will look into it for me, so thanks for that and we wait your findings!

    Re: Delivery not attempted

Thanks to David for shaking up CL and finally got the package delivered at the correct address today.

Apparently previous attempts went to two doors of different colour, but neither of the correct colour!
We can draw conclusions but anyway the happy fact it is now delivered so this one can be closed.
    Thanks again
