which is the best motherboard/memory to go with the Q6600? Im after 4gigs of good ram...I'm thinking of ddr2 rather than dd3 but cant make up my mind which speed memory to go for to get the best overclock. I've looked into many reviews as a guide but just need alittle more advice to nail my final system.
I'm after a cheap workstation/games comp, read its a good idea to have 1gig of ram for each core, helps with 3d apps.
    any help greatly appreciated.
p.s. im overclocker newbie, using air

ive gone for an asus p5k-e. i was a bit reluctant though, so i dont know what ive let myself in for.. after reading reviews, i looked at the delux, but then thought thats out of my price range, and so opted for a p5k "in the middle"; there are only a few reviews out there which i thought was strange, but nethertheless i pressed the buy button.

i too am an oc newbie

I think we should hire someone to monitor this thread and then send out a text to everyone who is interested. I'd be gutted if I missed out!

    Any volunteers!

personally I went for this memory

and a Gigabyte DQ6 which only time will tell whether I'll live to regret. It seems there's no perfect board.

I dont think any of us will miss out, once stock of the G0 Q6600 arrives at retailers G0 will be the only one available.

The wait is killing me though, I bought myself a B3 Q6600 a few weeks back (work rig) & I'v got near identical parts for my own rig, just waiting for G0.

I pre-ordered mine on August 6th before they removed it from the site, so hopefully that should guarantee me one when they eventually come in.

    Thor,

We only have a few back orders which were placed whilst the processor was on the website - therefore you should get one.....

    Carl,

Can you guys give us any indication... even if it's only "not this week guys, next delivery due on blah blah blah...". We understand the situation and that you are unable to provide any firm info with regards to an exact date.

I'm sure we're all happy to wait until you have them, but at least that would stop us having to check in on an hourly basis

Re: Scan to split Intel Quad Q6600 GO Stepping CPU's !!!

    Guys,

Just had confirmation I could give further information.

Ok we are expecting the stock to arrive around the 28th of this month, however there is a slim possibility we could have them sooner.

And guys dont worry we should have enough stock to go around...
