If you repair your directories, settings and user data remain intact.

Do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R"

Choose the 'press enter to set up Windows XP now' option
THEN Press F8 to skip through the EULA
THEN press R to begin a repair installation

I'm not entirely sure mate, you may of had to use the F6 option, early in the win repair process, (install third party drivers) to install the sata/raid drivers from *floppy*

Its possible that untill the drivers are loaded the hd wont be recognised.

I didn't think about the possibility of you having a RAID config.

When you do get to desktop you will have to uninstall DT maybe try a newer version. And remember to make sure you dont leave any virtual disk's mounted when you reboot.

    Re: Blue screen problems... :(

can i recover the raid later? the data is surely still stored on the hard drives so it is just a case of reinstalling the drivers and recognising the drives as being in a raid form?

I am not entirely sure, but would assume the RAID is recoverable.

    Re: Blue screen problems... :(

Windows has repaired and i can now get back to windows.

But it would seem the RAID has been lost, so i can't access any of my stored files. bit of a problem, but surely fixable.

Where do i get the drivers for restoring a RAID 5 ?

    anyone know?

Glad your drive is now accessable. I'll have a look into the RAID problem for you over the weekend as I am very busy atm.

Dont forget to uninstall/Upgrade DT and unmount image after install ( gamecopyworld have most fixed exe's, no cd/dvd files ).

Remember DT is still running unless you unmount and remove/disable the virtual drive.

    Re: Blue screen problems... :(

bluey you're a star, i put up another thread asking about raid problems, and i changed the bios:

    quoted from other thread:

Ok then I think RAID is disabled in the BIOS then.

Enter the BIOS and go to > Main > IDE Configuration and change 'Configure SATA AS' to RAID.

F10 to save reboot and then try to install the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager.

I did this, and the bios showed the raid drives working, but then went back to our old problem of blue screen on windows loading and restart. so back to square 1.

The other guy suggested repairing with the new raid drivers.

If you find anything else mate it would be greatly appreciated. i'll be able to spend more time on it on sunday/monday.

    thanks again.

    Re: Blue screen problems... :(

No problem. Will let you know If I can help any further.

The repair option is again the only alternative I know of at this time, but this time loading the drivers (F6).

    Best of luck anyway.
