Hi again, I've sent the RMA number on the 25th of last month and both the invoice number and the RMA on the 30th. I don't mean to moan but I've yet to receive a response.

Hi,
Please accept my apologies for the late reply. Having looked into the previous RMA I can see that on the 17/09/08 prior to the replacement board being sent to you it was tested prior to dispatch by our testing staff.
It was tested insofar as 2x Opteron CPU's were installed and tested under Windows. Obviously with the limited time we had to test the board the instability you have experienced may not have been picked up by our testing staff.
I can only suggest RMA'ing the motherboard for further testing and if confirmed to be faulty a further replacement will be sent.
Regards

Hi Mark, thanks for the reponse. Could you please give me an RMA number and pick up date as before.
Hi again. I have always liked scan as it offers a decent selection of components and the prices are relatively cheap as well. However the issue with my non working motherboard has become unacceptable. Five months, is more then what anyone would consider a reasonable amount of time to wait to get a motherboard sorted. As a result of this I have sent a final notice in writing before taking legal action. According to the post office the letter was delivered today so I hope someone has opened it. Not having a functional workstation has caused me considerable inconvenience. As the letter states, if this matter is not resolved in 14 days, I will start legal proceedings.
I have noticed a slight problem with scan's RMA testing procedures. The Tyan k8we is a AMD motherboard, supporting only AMD chips. How did 2 XEON cpu's successfully boot into windows on this board ? let alone fit? no wonder it doesn't work.Mark@SCAN

yb202 good luck !
Slight oversight on my behalf! obviously it would have been impossible for us to test Intel Xeon CPU's in an AMD Opteron motherboard and vice versa! The board would have been tested with compatible Opteron CPU's
Thanks for bringing this to my attention
I have edited the original post to avoid any further confusion
