    my thoughts on scan computers

    where do i strart,
im 39 year old and been using and fixing computers since i was about 12.
found scan computers in about 1992, used them since for parts.

seemed about every 3 out 5 items would be faulty and need returning, so i was back a forth to this shop thats 7 mile from me. seemed no other place to try and they replaced them no probs.
Anyhow latelly they seem to have changed, customer service is a total joke, the staff on the other end of the phones, sound like children with issues, when its you ringing with the issues.

    my story
Bought two Apple ipod touchs for £180 each in june 2009

took one back about 8 week ago, showed them the fault that the light was leaking from the screen were it met the case.
5 weeks after no mail or phone call about my ipod , i email them on a sunday night, at 9 am monday morning i get a email saying your ipod as been repearied and sent back to us from apple.

4 day after i manage to arrange a lift over to scan computers to get my daughters ipod, also why im there i purchase two hard drives, and pick up the ipod..
    i get home..

I take ipod out of bag and switch it on, it as the same Fault...
I ring scan computers and they say "your ipod was not faulty apple said so and sent it us back with upgraded firmware" thats the first time im told by scan it wasnt faulty... errrrm i can cleary see the fault
The kid on the phone from scan seemed to want to argue with me and not get this problem sorted.

Now then , i got in touch with apple and they did not recieve my ipod from scan at all..
Scan playing there usually palm people of games, they have made there money now over the years being the only parts shop in bolton.
i could write a massive list of returned items to scan... but i wont
i built a lot of computers in the past years for friends and others..
i stopped doing this, because i was accused of making rubbish, because of scans wonderfull faulty goods they sell and buy in bulk cheap..

be Warned Scan Computers are a Con..!!! i know what im talking about..
i remember when scan computers use to chip ps1's.. back when they was a little shop in the middle of know where.. even they couldnt get that right...

i still have the ipod, yes i know i could send it direct to apple. i prob will before the 12 month warrent ends..
but scan computers, ill catch a train to manchester before ever going there again and i used this place for near 20 years...

bye bye scan computers, scam computers...
i think Scan lied about my ipod it never left a shelf untill me email..

Stay Away From SCAN COMPUTERS.. dont be fooled by the fancy web site and shop.. and there scansure service, its all a big Con..
hope you like this ""(management).. your staff are rubbish...
    wont be seeing you again.

Re: my thoughts on scan computers

You have quite a mouth on you dont you? I mean to brand them as cons and such.

Just look at the awards they have won and you will soon see that they arent as big a con as you make believe.

Just because you have been fixing computers since you were "about 12" doesnt mean you are great at it. I have been fixing computers since I was about 15, I dont think I am great with it but I get by and fix most problems.

Calling them children proves nothing more than that you are a children, if you cant come and post in a polite manner, then dont post at all tbh.

How do we know you arent lieing now about talking to Apple? To say that SCAN or any other reputible retailer for any matter would knowingly sell defective parts or buy in bulk "cheap" items just to make a massive profit is a huge insult.

I am pretty sure atfter reading this, you no longer being a customer wont bother them that much.

Have you ever thought that when you were installing parts, you were the one damaging them?

Re: my thoughts on scan computers

No need to attack the OP imo... it's fine for him to voice his opinion and get feedback. Scan have to be more proactive with customer service and can't just ignore things on a public forum - so it is fine that he has registered just to post this... Tone is a bit rude, but I'm sure we would all be a bit pissed off, after being fobbed off an RMA.

Let's wait and see what a Scan rep says...

Re: my thoughts on scan computers

You have got me worried now I have recently ordered and paid for a new graphics card, I really hope I don't get a faulty product.

I have noticed something strange though and that is with the amount I was charged it seems I have paid £1 more than I should or maybe my math is bad.

    £312.37 + £6.99 = £319.36

But my invoice is for £320.41 seems to me they have over-charged me and if they was to do that on 100 large orders thats £100 that could build up over time.

Another thing I don't like about scan is the fact theres no free delivery option, all the other sites I use have a free delivery option when you spend more then £50 which I think is fair enough.

Re: my thoughts on scan computers

I brought a X-FI GO from scan but after a few days it stopped working, kept giving no USB device detected error or whatever, sent it back to SCAN, they tested it, confirmed that it was broken, they sent a new one back, took less then 7 working days.

    Happy with their service.

Re: my thoughts on scan computers

My brother and I have ordered countless items from Scan over the last few years each seeming to be as reliable as the last. Perhaps you are over reacting a little. A company such as Scan would not of made it so far by tricking people and having a poor quality of service. I'm sorry you feel this way but you definitly seem to be a minority here.

Re: my thoughts on scan computers

I have had a issue with my gfx card order not coming in (I bet you can all guess what series I was trying to buy), well after a bunch of communications they have given me a refund. But through it all I have recieved nothing but responsive email with a polite and helpful attitude.

Re: my thoughts on scan computers

A bit of a self-contradictory rant there. Is English your first language ? Or did the red mist come down when you were typing ? If they're so bad why have you been using them since 1992 ? Why were your systems that you built rubbish ?

Scan are a retailer like any other. The big fact in their favour in my eyes is that I have seen them hold long conversations with dissatisfied customers in public on these boards and tried to resolve the situation. I know of no other retailer that does this.

If you have a legitimate beef, post the RMA number, or other identifying references. As it stands there is nothing to answer here other than an anonymous rant on an unspecified issue.

Re: my thoughts on scan computers

    Chris808

Your order was placed on 8th Jun 2009:

Warranty of this item is with Apple directly, you returned the product to SCAN, which we returned to Apple on your behalf. Pasted below is the report received from Apple with the Apple repair ID.

Apple sees the reported issues as a " Perceived fault ". You can dispute the decision Apple has made, you will need to contact Apple with Repair ID number.

Now then , i got in touch with apple and they did not recieve my ipod from scan at all..

The other comments about SCAN and the staff, which work here are ridiculous, actually from the information I have, after the abuse and threats you made directly to our Returns staff, I'm surprised they spoke to you at all.

As I said I know no other reatiler who go to the bother of posting the documentation for all to see.

NB Chris we can still read the redacted refs on the note. You might need to digitally edit the scanned image.

If you can raise a new thread in the After Sales section with the Invoice number we can look into this for you.

I suspect the order total reflects the Scansure charge..

We do also offer free delivery, see the threads linked below.

    Touché.

My personal experience with Scan has been nothing but positive. They buy huge quantities of components - given the problem rate for most is in the low single digit percent, i'd suggest (as others have here) that the problem is you ...
