    Angry DPD - first impression...

    Hi all,

I just thought I would share my first experience with DPD - which still isn't over.

So, I ordered a graphics card on the 30th November for delivery the next day. Understandably due to the crazy weather it was not delivered. In fact it didn't reach Edinburgh till 7th December, which is fine as the snow stopped vehicles getting up to Scotland.

When I placed the ordered I used my home address as I was working from home that week. However, following week (commencing 6th December) I went back to the office so I changed the delivery address to my work (by calling up Scan). For the record, it did change the delivery postcode etc on the tracking system to my work address.

Anyway, so the package went out for delivery today. So I was quite happy about this as I will finally get my graphics card. I checked the tracking system at around 2.30 and noticed a new entry saying that there was no one at the address so they left a card. Well, wasn't happy about this as I am in an office with around 40 - 50 people, I am sure we weren't all at the toilet at once.

So I called up DPD to see what was going on. The guy on the phone called the driver, he said he had it down to be delivered to my flat... I was like, right ok - can you tell me this address. The guy on the phone read it out - to my amazement it was the wrong number and wrong postcode!!! ARRGGH!! So quite glad it wasn't delivered there!

Anyway, so he has changed the address to my work address, again - to be delivered tomorrow.

Well, time will tell if this happens. Not happy!

Not sure where the problem has arisen, but I know Scan don't have my incorrect flat address - so why would DPD....

    I will keep you updated...

    Lucky you!

I'm also in Edinburgh, have 2 outstanding Scan orders with DPD. One shipping 2/12. the other 9/12 - neither waiting for me in my office. Called DPD tracking, one on a truck and the other they don't know about. Call forwarding to a human put me to an engaged tone!

So no boxes of goodies to mess with this weekend.

You may get them over the weekend as they are meant to be catching up with the backlog.

    Re: DPD - first impression...

STILL waiting for my parcil which now states it'll come between 17:38 and 18:38. surprised the courier is working so late!

been waiting all day so not best pleased. DPD really bringing scan down IMO which is a shame seeing as scan sent it the next day and its DPD who have been messing me about!

    EDIT

    Right now im fuming!!!

as it now says no one was here to sign for delivery so i have to rearrange AGAIN!!!!

IVE BEEN SITTING HERE THE WHOLE TIME!!!! funny how there was no card left!!!! sorry scan but while you continue to use an incompetent courier you've lost my custom!!!

this is the second delivery i've supposidly not been home for i took today off work for nothing again! i now have no day off until christmas eve when am i supposed to do my christmas shopping!!!!

ive had to resort to opting for them to now leave the parcil in a safe place but they have not left a card either attempt so who knows what will happen now!! they'll proberly say they left it there and my neighbour must of nicked it!! i can see it now arghh

    Re: DPD - first impression...

Not really, the weather is bad, all courier services are delayed, not just DPD. Both of you have received your orders intact, so where is the issue? Most couriers don't allow requests at all, so you should be thankful to be fair. If you think you've had a hard deal with DPD, clearly you never shopped with Scan when they used citylink.
I'm actively shooting down unnecessary criticism of DPD because frankly, the prospect of Scan reverting to citylink as ebuyer have done worries me, as it means I will never be able to use Scan again!

Actually a number of the big names do allow requests for where to leave a parcel.

I never had problems with City Link, the deliveries in my area were at a decent time, the tracking was comprehensive and the nice delivery driver even attempted a second delivery on the same day if we aren't in first thing in the morning

I do however have a number of problems with DPD

My order was dispatched on Friday (ordered it for Monday so plenty of time) but no delivery Monday, since then I keep getting texts from Scan telling me my order is going to be delivered today between 8 and 6, which is interesting as the 2 days I got those texts (and the DPD site said it was on the van for delivery) they never showed up at work

Today one parcel from the consignment was delivered at 4:45pm, which makes me wonder where the hell the other one has gotten to, considering both said they were on the van for delivery again today.

It would have been nice if Scan had given a link to the DPD site to find info on the delays on the home page, instead of having to hunt around.

And to top it off it looks like I wont be guaranteed the rest of the order by Christmas as they have suspended deliveries to Newcastle. At least City Link are still running and are letting people know they are behind instead of saying nothing

It seems some people have got it and some haven't.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

I could understand if it was the weather but its clear as anything down south and tracking the parcil showed it was at the reading depo quite happily so weather isnt an excuse.

I have shopped with scan on various occassions and have never had an issue with citylink.

read my posts again and you'll see my issues with dpd were 1. attempting to deliver to the invoice address and not delivery address which caused me to miss the parcil and a days work,

    2. saying i'll recieve my parcil monday so took the time off work again only for he tracking to say i'll recieve it by 18:38 to then at 18:38 change to customer wasnt in despite me sitting home all day!

    3. when as a last resort i opted for them to leave in a safe place they simply left the parcil on the doorstep in full view of anyone walking past instead of where i asked them to hide it.

I would have collected it from the depo but not once did they ever leave a calling card which i was told i would need. so weather isnt really an excuse here im afraid and therefore my 'unnessesary critism' in this case is quite reasonable.

    Re: DPD - first impression...

To be fair that is bad, means the driver has just skipped your consignment.
Now imagine this happening three times in succession, and with every single order, rain or shine.
This is what citylink are like for me at my address in Essex. It's basically that they don't deliver to my address, despite being in a major estate in a large town with good roads.
Anything I order from a company using citylink means I have to book an opportunity to go the 15 miles to the citylink depot.

So far everything I've ordered from DPD has arrived within 5 minutes of when they have said. I wouldn't put any basis on their performance during the bad weather. it may not affect you, but it may affect their head office.

    Re: DPD - first impression...

Is changing back to City Link really coming up in these forums as a serious question?

As with everything – Balance It Out..

Issues are due to the weather, affecting ALL devilries companies

Major Retailer's have halted online order's in Scotland directly due to the weather conditions and DPD have also had to temporarily suspended deliveries in Scotland, Newcastle and York.

Naturally the blame will unfairly be pointed towards a courier / etailor / retailer for not delivering a parcel, however we would rather receive the feedback than not.

Balance the feedback out and understand the reason for the delay's, which are beyond DPD's control. They are working literally around the clock and once the backlog's clear, service will resume as normal.

Please bear with us and DPD until this is the case and be assured we understand the problems the delay's are causing for everyone.

    Regards

    Re: DPD - first impression...

Is changing back to City Link really coming up in these forums as a serious question?
I'd hope not, but ebuyer have already done it, so you can forgive the concern over it!

Frankly, the conditions here in York are not so bad that deliveries cannot be made, but I can see how it will be made a lot more difficult, and more to the point, have health & safety issues, so it's regretfully understandable that deliveries are suspended. Luckily I'm not after anything in particular being delivered by christmas. Even if I was, I would have realised long before now I needed to get orders in due to the weather!

I will raise the fact that what's happened to JimmyBoy is not weather-related delays but bypassing, which is inexcusable at any time, and is the reason why citylink are, from a national perspective, such a useless courier. It is definitely worth filing a complaint with DPD as a retailer for that, because if DPD start bypassing people increasingly, we're back to square one.
