Finally got it on mine, some people have had the ota update by restarting Google services or the tablet itself.

Was confused by the split notification thing at first but glad Google have added quick settings in as default... Bout time!

Any other cool new features to look out for?

Edit: Warning to all, the update breaks both dice and mx player :-(

Edit 2: mobo player seems to work still. Has a lovely overlay feature aswell, definitely worth checking out! Couldn't get BS player to work

Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread

Pressing the task manager soft key to show recent apps now shows the app you're in (if you're in an app) as well as those you have recently closed - something I'd missed compared to ICS.

Still no JB update on my One X though.

Owning a nexus has definitely made me change what i expect with regards to updates. Its proved that people want the stock android experience and i think Samsung and HTC need to take note.

Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread

Yup, I agree completely. I almost understand why there was so much demand for the Nexus 4 now.

Cutting out all the middlemen and going directly with a Google device seems to the best route.

£1.87 isn't going to break the bank though

I can't even get the 4.1.2 update. My brand new Nexus 7 is still running 4.1.1 JB. A couple of days ago it told me an update to 4.1.2 was available, so I downloaded the update, installed it and re-started the tablet. However in Settings I'm still showing Android Version 4.1.1, though Software Updates says I'm up to date. My homescreen still won't rotate so I guess that confirms the update failed. Anyone got any ideas what I need to do to get this update installed properly.

You could try factory reseting and then trying to install it. On another note what browser does you guys use for flash content?

Best thing to do is find the Google frameworks app that runs in the background. settings > applications > all... when you find it clear the data and then try searching for the update again. After a few tries it might work. I had to do it like 3 times in a row to get my galaxy nexus to see the last 2 updates.

In your case though factory reset is probably the best course of action if the update has failed. Definitely still got free space on the tablet right?

So whats the next tablet going to be called? Nexus 7 2?

I'm still toying with the idea of a Nexus 7 just as a stop gap till Apple sort out their iPad Mini and give it a decent screen, or make the 5th Gen iPad lighter and thinner... I'll see what the January sales hold

Firefox and sideloaded flash work fine.

You can side load flash using a flash installer from an older android device and use a browser that supports it which sadly chrome does not.

Re: Google Nexus 7 Discussion Thread

To those who don't like Chrome on Android, Dolphin is pretty nice and quick. But the stock browser isn't too bad either, it's nice and simple.

For those who like to stream from SMB like I do, BSplayer is pretty decent as well. The pro version lets you swipe on the left to adjust brightness and the volume amplifies up to 200% which is pretty crucial on this device as the speakers are pretty weak (understandably). And it auto-downloads subtitles for most things, which is a feature I didn't know I'd love so much until I started using this app.

Still really gutted about the lackluster tablet apps out there on the Play market though. So many awesome tablet Apps I want that come out are usually iPad only, annoyingly.

The latest 4.2 update is really nice as well! I don't see myself getting a Non-Nexus Android device any time soon, really love the immediate updates.

I've tried 'Factory Data Reset' followed by attempting to re-install the System Update to JB 4.1.2, and I've tried doing this after clearing data in Google Services Framework. Each time, while attempting to install the update, I see the Android robot on its back with a red triangle - which I presume means the installation isn't working, though there are no hints or clues from Android as to what is actually happening.

I've also discovered something interesting and very frustrating about Windows 7 Home Premium, which I run on all of my computers. There is no way to disable automatic installation of hardware drivers! I've been trying to 'root' my Nexus 7. I've tried using Nexus Root Toolkit and also Nexus 7 ToolKit but have had zero success because whenever I try to uninstall the Windows drivers for the tablet Windows immediately re-installs them. In Computer>Properties>Advanced System Settings>Hardware>Device Installation Settings I've checked and saved 'Never Install Driver Software from Windows Update' but this is ignored by Windows! So I can't get rid of the old drivers. Help!

There is no Local Group Policy Editor in W7 Home Premium, so that method is not available.

Getting the 32GB one off my girlfriend for Christmas, can't wait to start playing around with it. Any recommended apps?
