best of luck, what kind of ppd do you push with that? With/without errors?
Also queelis, how can you get 6k ppd with a quadcore and I'm getting 500ppd with my triple core. Is the cache making that much of a difference?

here here. My Q6600 only knocks out a few hundred points, but that was using the older client. Didn;t think it would be beefy enough to get through any bigadv units.

Explain bigadv units to me? I reckon they would take many weeks to complete on my pc if they're especially big.

As I've said before - without the bonus, one 500k WU is usually worth 481 points. With the bonus, your credit starts at around 2400 points and goes down depending on how long you take to finish the WU (so that you'd be awarded for finishing the WU ASAP). I usually get around 1700-2000 points a work unit, which is around 4000-4500 PPD per day in the end.

bigadv units require at least 8 cores (or threads, the client doesn't know the difference), consume around a gig of RAM and have pretty short deadlines, so that no one with a quad core or less (no matter what clock speed) would probably finish them in time. They're really only for the most hardcore hardware out there.

Do the bonus points keep coming? I thought they were a one off after 10 smp WUs? Just finished by 8th WU, 2 to go! My gpu has done like 25 since I got it it's putting my CPU to shame. So if I payed postage what would you want for the CPU? Or is too much hassle

I have no idea to be honest. the first smp unit went through and got 481 points and took 3 hours. I'll try leaving it to go over the weekend and see what the point totals are.

    Edit -

It might be interesting to see how the points rack up. Just checked the 4 test servers I am running.

One is complete a unit in 3 hours, 2 are completing them in 6 and the forth is completing the units is around 8 hours. Should mean that the four of them chew through some units this weekend however i doubt I'll be able to keep it running on all 4 all the time. That said, I do have those other servers arriving so hoping I can fold on them for a while.

Every work unit after the first 10 starts getting worth a lot more points than they were. The 481 credit ones - ~2000, the 921 credit - ~4000 (but for me these take around two days folding not 24/7) and similarly. It's not one-time

For the CPU I don't know, probably would sell it for around 60 of your monies, add the postage and it gets not worth the trouble. If I won't find a buyer, I'll let you know, we'll barter

So you get Bonus points for the GPU work units as well ?

Re: Nibbler and Terbinator's ask the experts about folding thread

You running 24/7 Nibbler? Your points yield has improved quite a bit

Probably going to look at having mine running 24/7 for at least 1 day in the month/ every 2 weeks. Stuck my GTX 260 in the family PC so I'll get the client set up on that as well. The GTX 260 is lumbered with a Sempron 140 though do you think that it would bottleneck the F@H client ?

Kinda. The stats you see are only from one server. The other three got stuck on uploading. I've just forced them through which uploaded another 9 or so work units. One server is still uploading (results file is over 42mb) which has been going a while.

The main server is also received a lot larger units now so its taking a lot longer to crunch though them however they should be worth some decent points.

The other issues is I dont appear to be getting any decent points per unit. Looks like it is stuck giving me 481 points per unit or around that.

Not really. The GPU client doesn't use up a whole core, especially the nVidia one.
