Deleted, re-installed client etc just to get rid of the badness.

Seems to be running fine now.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: Nibbler and Terbinator's ask the experts about folding thread

It saves a checkpoint at a time interval you set when you run it with -configonly flag and go to advanced options (every 3 to 15 minutes, I'd go for 3). But if the client encounters an error in the WU, it ditches all of it and starts a new one.

Regarding quad core PPD: yeah, I'm getting ~4500-5000PPD with my 2.8GHz X4 Phenom. Going to change it to a X4 965 BE (got one for free - what-is-up?) soonish, probably going to boost me to some 6000PPD

Hadn't notices that my 9800GTX was slightly overclocked by pob (60-odd mhz) which is why it is kicking out 6kppd! That's good performance if you ask me. What you doing with your old stable unlockable cpu queelis?

I've decided to have another go and see if the smp client is any more stable. Shouldn't take too long to process some units, looking at the console.

Re: Nibbler and Terbinator's ask the experts about folding thread

What are you running that on? That's crazy fast for an SMP unit isn't it? 5 times as fast as my triple core. Also, 16gb RAM?
Now that I look at it you are running 24 threads... so my guess is 2 intel hexacores?

Re: Nibbler and Terbinator's ask the experts about folding thread

Its running on a dell Poweredge R410 with 2 Xeon X5650 (2.67ghz, 6 cores with HT)

Best part is that its running that with exchange 2007 sat in the background.

I've chucked it onto a few other servers as well so will be interesting to see how they handle it over the weekend.

Got another large servers arriving in a couple of weeks. One is a mirror copy of the server above, another will be 4 x X5650 (48 threads) with 32gb of ram.

I tend to running folding on them for a week as a testbed, to make sure everything is ok before they go into a test environment.

Edit - First smp unit just completed. 3 hours start to finish. Just hope it uploads correctly now.

Have you set the -bigadv flag? If not you should, that rig should be able to churn out a A3 bigadv WU in less than a day for mega pointage, It'll take about 1GB of RAM though.

just out of interest what is using up 13GB of ram while you're folding? Not the folding client itself surely.

Cant run it then. I dont want to impact the exchange features of the server tbh. Shame as I didn't know of that feature before. I may run it on the test rigs while testing them for a week.

    Of course.

The same issue has unfolded. The smp client has just crashed trying to upload the results.

Re: Nibbler and Terbinator's ask the experts about folding thread

I had 12 servers previously and all of the experienced it. It ended up crashing the smp client so much i just removed it and stopped folding.

I've managed to get it to upload now and its chewing through its second unit. We'll see how it gets on over the weekend.
