Im gonna take this up. Max i can do is around 20-25ish. and at the moment, maybe 10.
I'll be happy to take this up as soon as my wrist has healed.
I think the last time I tried I could stretch to about 30 if I tried.
i just managed 45.. but i'll join in and see if i can do 100 in 6 weeks time, should be fun
I have done 200................................................with help from a couple of car jacks!! lol
I'll start this tomorrow? and post results....or maybe at the end of the week.
I'd go over 100, but that's 3x40 or 4x30 sets. . . 100 push ups in one go sounds insane...probably would need to buy new tops reaching that level!
I've been contemplating this, think someone posted it a bit back?
I used to be a bit of a fitness fanatic, in what feels like a former life, and I used to do 3 sets of 50 twice a day, every other day. Used to do the same amount of crunches on the alternate days. God knows why, but anyway...
The big problem with press ups is that hardly anyone does them properly My old coach used to have a rule that if your chest didn't get within a clenched fist of the floor it didn't count. Sadistic git, but he did have a point, 10 done correctly is better than 40 done incorrectly.
I don't think I'll manage any more than 10 now (been sat about the house for a year!) but I'll have a damn good go! It'd be good if folk posted updates?
This looks interesting I'll join in, I'll do the initial test tomorrow when I'm a bit more awake, although I'm expecting it to be around 10. Used to be able to do 40-50 back when I exercised regularly.
I'm skipping the initial test because i have a splitting headache today, and i'll prolly aggravate it more.
but i can manage ten lol, so i'll attempt column 3 tomorrow.
Noooooo press ups! I'm preparing to join the TA at the moment, here's how I do it:
Do as many as you can
Swear loudly and do 5 more
Collapse
Do 10 more on your knees
Collapse and roll around on the floor like a weakened kitten
...about 5 times a day
It's weird, but I could do push ups with so much more ease when I was 13-15 years old. I focussed on push ups because it was often deemed 'harder' by my peers (silly reason as it might be, at least I stayed away from cigarettes and other less healthy form of peer pressure), and ironically became much better at it than I was at situps (I've yet to meet anyone who can relate to that). I can honestly say that I went for 200 most days, with a minimum of 50. I don't remember if I ever did 100 in one go. Now, it feels impossible. I'd do well managing 3x20 on the average day. Still, I've started going to the recently, and I am tempted to take this challenge. It would be great to be able to believe that my fitness hasn't gone SO much worse since my early teens [and it's not like I've become visibly unfit].
Becoming better at push-ups than sit ups? I don't think I know anyone who is better at sit ups than press ups! I'd struggle to do 10 situps myself I reckon...
Although I have yet to meet anyone who's got similarly unflexible (sp?) wrists that knuckle pressups are actually easier than flat-palmed press ups. I use bars nowadays if I do do them...
