Surely being outed by the 3rd most successful country in WC is nothing to be bitterly disappointed about? Getting totally murdered on the other hand is another story.Originally Posted by England captain Steven Gerrard

EPIC FAIL BY ENGLAND AGAIN.
Next time, can we NOT get all the overpaid premier league players and start from the ground up with people actually wanting to play. Those players can only play club level and can never play at the international level.
We are awful. Capello supposedly one of the best managers in the world came in and promises players would be picked on form not repution. i`m sure he also said he would only take fit players.
Rooney has been unfit all tournament and since about april but seemed to be an automatic start. He played poorly again today yet was kept on and defoe who is fit and lively gets taken off.
Gerrard can do a job on the left but its not his best position. if you want him and lampard in the same team then play gerrard behind 1 striker he is comfortable there.
For one of the last goals why was terry up in attack ? I understand him going up for corners and set pieces but this was open play.
Here we go again, blaming the manager. I'm no football expert, but every god damn time we blame the manager. I'm sorry, but his record speaks for itself.
What are you trying to suggest? It doesn't matter whether it is for a shorter time or a longer time. Every other country would have similar time to train together.
WC is like a sprint - it means playing like it is your last game every time. You need to have the motivation to try to win it every game. Club level matches are like endurance runs.
And then you have a bunch of prima donnas who keeps thinking they are the best and because of this they keep playing their own positions. Terry attacking, Gerrard going in the middle, etc....
Suggesting nothing. I seem to remember that one African player mentioning that his team was hastily put together and they only had like a month before the WC to train together. Motivation and individual ability are important, but wouldn't time spent training together improve the flow of teamwork?
Obviously everyone will start clamouring to blame somebody, and I suspect that all of that will be levelled at the referee, Sepp Blatter and Capello, but I don't think there was anything notably "wrong".
Capello picked a good squad and good teams, the referees were generally fair, the opposition wasn't that strong, and yet it was abysmal. There really are no compelling reasons for how bad it was, but I don't doubt that the next month will be spent trying to find them.
