Yeah I'd agree with that. So far he has to be up there as a contender for Player of the Year along with Bale, Van der Vaart and Nani maybe?

Not too sure about Dempsey. He's had a decent season so far, but I don't think he's up there with the rest. Charlie Adam maybe?

Opta have Dempsey with 8 goals and 3 assists as the 4th best midfielder in the prem so far which is pretty good for what has been a generally under performing team as opposed to some of the others mentioned in bigger teams playing at pretty much their peak.

Charlie Adam has had a great season so far which really makes Liverpools offer of £4million rather insulting, so totally understand Holloway's view point on this.

Their cheeky offer is enough to make him put in a transfer request, just have to hope Blackpool bleed them for as much as possible now

So Torres wants to go? Handed in a request, i can't say I blame him really. If he doesn't want to be at Liverpool then we may as well just get rid, anything over the £20 mill we spend will be good business IMO.

Torres should not have snubbed MUFC when he wanted to come to England, he would have had some medals by now.
He will be lucky if we want him now, I reckon MCFC may have him or he is off to warmer climates.

Re: Premier League 10/11- Discussion Thread

shame about torres he was good once but we turned down 35 ish for him so if chelsea come in with a bigger offer the club should take the money and re invest in the team as we need players in a few positions and that money will help.

Am relieved we have bought luis suarez At least we have a talented player to replace torres.

Hopefully we'll get 40 mil plus for torres and anelka and that wont be too bad for us really torres has been off form and lack lustre and does have injury problems i'd rather he went abroad but looks like thats not an option at the minute

Anelka is 32 in a few weeks and hasn't exactly been in great form either... the difference is Anelka's form isn't likely to improve much in the rest of his career.

Re: Premier League 10/11- Discussion Thread

Dont really see much sense in the Torres transfer saga !

Torres is better than Suarez ....

Ok i know hes not been brill this season but there is no doubting his class.

Surely this is a step backward yet again for liverpool

Torres out = Lesser player to replace ?? this makes no sense to me at all ... i know they will be able to buy a few players with money who? i know Charlie Adams is having a good season but so did Micheal Ricketts once! and look at him now, im not saying that will happen with Adams but you never know, Football is full of players who had a good season once, its weather they can sustain it.

If Torres does go to chelsea i see it as a bad move for him as Chelsea in my opinion need somewhat of an overhaul themselfs, there players arent getting any younger and have a lot of 30 somethings.

Granted United do also, but United have a better nucelus of younger players. hence why we are top of the league.

Chelsea need depth more than marquee signings. OK, they need a few younger players too, but their bench is abysmal. When they're struggling in games, you look at the bench and just scratch your head as their aren't any options. It's not like they've got a bunch of players on the treatment table either.

Re: Premier League 10/11- Discussion Thread

Steve a its not that Liverpool want to sell torres its that he wants to go and as is always said nowadays you cant keep a player who doesnt want to stay.

As a liverpool fan I am biased (no really lol) but I agree that it does seem a strange move him wanting to go to chelsea. We are in a bad state but we have some decent youngsters coming through and kenny has made the team play better together. the chelsea team are ageing and Ancellotti seems to be losing his way with the team. There`s also the fact that ROman will be turning his concentration to 2018 too as he is supposed to be an integral part of the world cup deal...

Looks like the Torres-Chelsea deal is on, and the replacement for Torres is Carroll... for £35m... that's THIRTY-FIVE MILLION POUNDS.
