Re: Premier League 10/11- Discussion Thread

i was unsure about the torres going and carroll coming but now thinking about it we spent 57 million on a 24 year old that scored a goal a game last year and a 22 year old that has potential.

If both of them can knock in 30 goals a season betweeen the two then they are better value than torres was, LEts be honest he had a lot of injuries.

And most importantly the summer we bought torres from athletico madrid he was on the back of a top scoring season and had knocked in an amazing 14 goals. Kenny Dalglish is a pretty smart man when it comes to football so if he thinks andy carroll is worth buying then i believe him.

Roll on sundays game against chelsea its gonna be a firey one.

Indeed, however i believe that part of the deal was that Torres will play no part in the game ...

Speaking about Carroll, He has stated that he was forced out by Ashley who couldnt turn down that bid, and i am certainly no fan of Mike Ashley (hes a right tool) but he would have been a bigger tool to turn down 35 Million, which in my opinion is a Massive over estimate of his ability.

Potential he does have, but 35 Mil is a lot of money to gamble on potential.

Thats not to say hes a bad player, he looks like he could be very good, but 35 Mil ? come on there are better players out there for a fraction of the price, these players arent english but then again English players come at a premium as there arent many good ones.

Rooney had potential, and lucky for us it paid off.

Bebe Supposed to have potential - That aint gonna pay off (head in hands and a loud "sigh")

Glen Johnson had potential and that didnt (and its not because he a Liverpool player)

Micah Richards - He had potential, but hes gone downhill alot.

So potential certainally doesnt mean that they will be great players, so 35 Million is a massive gamble for me, is he worth it ? time will tell and to be totally honest i hope he does well as its good for England.

    Brilliant deal for Newcastle though.

Newcastle are laughing all the way to the bank, they will go out and buy a proven player with some of that cash.

Re: Premier League 10/11- Discussion Thread

Andy carroll is not just a gamble on his potential though really it's more of a statement from new owners that were probably slightly worried about being lynched for selling there prize asset. The last owners made promises and never kept them. These guys probably dont wanna be chased out of anfield with pitch forks like hicks and gillet.

Andy carroll is a risk and the price is really irrelevant good managers and teams take risks. Did anyone outside arsenal think Arshavin was good when they bought him (he'd had a few good games for russia) turned out ok. Also more importantly buying a proven player doesn't always work out either am sure every chelsea fan here will remember the 30 ish million you spent on Shevchenko and he flopped in england (robbie keane to liverpool also), At least carroll has proven he can play in the premier league.

He`s going to miss us more than we will miss him.

The shirt burning on telly last night was a joke and maybe cynically I think sky might have egged them on to do it.

As many people said on twitter last night about torres
"we hate you so much because we loved you so much."

    another good one was this

"mate of mine just said Torres transfer feels like his girlfriend has left him to sleep with a chav with loads of cash"

You gotta laugh you bottom off selling a championship player for £35m. Joke.

When did he become worth more than Edin Dzeko/David Silva and bunch of others?

This is exactly what's wrong with Premiership...

Re: Premier League 10/11- Discussion Thread

I think Dalglish wants Carrol as a target man; something he presumes Liverpoll are lacking. Whether they have the wide players ay be in question. Too expensive at that price but the bargain they got a good deal for Torres.

I think Torres's injury record would have put me off buying him. (if I had 50 million and was managing a premiership club).

I can't believe someone bought Suarez; isn't this the cheating little swine who denied Ghana a goal in the WC and laughed about it? Then again if you're having to play David Ngog then these purchases make an awful lot of sense.

Newcastle may be laughing to the bank but everyone now knows they have the money and prices have gone up for them. Being promoted last season gives them less choice as all the top players want to play champions league. Newcastle aren't going to get there unfortunately for a few seasons.

Lol theres About 200 cheating little swines in the premier league he blatantly cheated what about all of the ones and lets be honest most of them do it that roll around squealing like there leg has been chopped off at every ackle or the ones like drogba and fabregas that throw themselves down like they've just been hit by a bus everytime they get in a penalty area.

Suarez Cheated to save his country from elimination. if Gerrard rooney lampard terry and the rest of the england squad showed that much passion while playing for our national team we'd be a damn site better!

Its not cricket. Its the attitude that cheating is good and the disresopect shown to officials has puts me off football more and more.

Its the passion of over the top challanges and the length of the field passing that is going to stop us getting any better.

    By being from england.

Its a sad fact that if a player is british then you can double the value. Look at glen johnson as an example.

I have faith he`ll do well for us.

I cant help but feeling that It could also mean that Kenny is staying past the end of the season

I think they signed Suarez based on the above rather than his other antic's such as impersonating Mike Tyson

If any of our players hand balled it to deny a near certain goal i would give them a pat on the back as well.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: Premier League 10/11- Discussion Thread

Carroll for 36m is a joke tbh. The price of english players is whats killing our national side.

Because there soo expensive, teams like arsenal, chelsea and even united dont bother looking at local talen and just grab teh cheapest nasri/nani they can find for peanuts who ***** all over MOST english players.

Chammack for instance i would say from a none bias opinion that he is slightly better then andy carrol yet we got him for free! even if we had to buy him, he was only priced at 12m i think it was!

Look at vdv from spurs. bargain and again ***** all over many english players. how the **** can english players prosper in top english sides when a player like darren bent and ****ing andy cole costs over 30m??? a ****ing joke.
