Wow this more like it what an improvement when I trying do a REQ for hrlslcbr on HTPC News forum I was playing a round with NeroVision Express 3 and it see ATI 550 Pro card so I fige what hack and try it and it can capture AVI to MPEG in real time but with 50% CPU usage.
My system is Intel 2.8GHz with 1GB memory which noumle use for gaming.
Now the questions that come to mind is why dose ATI 550 Pro hardware encoder look so bad.
Theatrix Theater 550 Pro capture AVI to SoftMPEG capture

WinTV-PVR 500MCE REALtime Hardware MPEG capture

Some question ask by user is by defaults the macrovision protected is on?. (YES it is) I guest you to have a TBC for that or RIP disc and when macrovision kick end on this cards you see nothing but noise like in the below screentshot and there a good change that this card could also support (CGMS-A) Content Generation Management System for Analog as well which I can't test.

Thoses you who wish to this under GraphEdit
    First thing you need this
    DirectX 9 GraphEdit
    Filter Dump
    Premade MPEG-2 Demultiplexter grf file
Copy graphedit.exe, dump.ax to (?:\Windows or Windows\system32) and you need register from command line or run box by type regsvr32 dump.ax (enter)
Make short for graphedit.exe on the desktop
Put the Premade MPEG-2 Demultiplexter grf file any where you want
Don't forget you need right click on the ‘ATI filter for SVideo that Xbar' and select ‘Filter Properties’
Also this page may help get better under stnading of thing even know it for Hauppauge PVR card http://www.shspvr.com/graph.html
Ocen you have it all working just save the graph
Oh the one that say test_550.mpg that Dump Filter make sure you type in the full name you would like to use

Will this be a good capture?.
I have to yes but like all new tech toys there are thing that need be address.
Thing I like to see address
    More compatible generated MPEG files
    Audio record level adjustment
    MPEG1, VCD, SVCD option
Streaming option like Program, DVD like PVR 150, 250, 500 have
Option Closed Caption embedded in to MPEG Stream
Open bitrate support not fix number like it is now for CBR and VBR mode

I'm sorry Andrzej but only fool buy in to MCE in fact you find that a lot MCE user just end up switching away from it over to SageTV, GB-PVR, BeyondTV or one other 3rdparty tools.

bluefish266 you capture are 640x480 not ture resolution 720x480

For I can tell the Dolby Digital Encoding has be soft trasncoder it wasn't show it listed in graphedit audio properties.

    Andrzej:
First, thank you for clarifying the AVI 'problem'.
Now, when you said 'without going through the hardware encoding pattern', does it only skip the encoding or the 3d comb, noise reduction, etc. filters too?
    Thank you.

Hi, i've got a question... when recording from S-Video, will I be given the option of choosing from the american NTSC standard or the Japanese NTSC standard? (ie, IRE0 or IRE7.5)

    Thanks.

does sapphire theatrix 550 support both NTSC and PAL on one card or are there 2 versions of the card?

i read from sapphiretech.com and it shows:

    Features:

    Theater™ 550 PRO core
    MPEG-2 video encode support
MPEG Audio Encoder with sampling rates of up to 48khz
    Dolby Digital 2 channel encoding
    Programmable filters
    NTSC/PAL
    Motion adaptive 3D Comb Filtering
    FM Radio
    World-Wide Audio Decoder
    16MB DDR memory controller

however i've read posts saying this is the NTSC version and there is PAL version still being finalized? any idea?

You know that really good Q yihang being it has Microtune's MT2050 Silicon Tuner which should be fully compatible with NTSC, PAL, SECAM unlike analog tuner my guest is it has to with input connector but there could alway be more then just that to it.
One thing for sure a World-Wide Tuner would be something a lot people would love to have.

Hi, I think its best if it can do it while capturing, rather than editing it later on... coz if the source is in IRE0, but it captures in IRE7.5, then all the lower black information will be lost. Can someone who owns this card confirm this please? Thanks.

    Thumbs up

    I'm new to the boards.

Please see my "first time caller/poster" post here: http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=38009 and vote on which card I should get with my tax return money. I'm trying to decide between Sapphire 550 Theatrix and Hauppauge 150 PVR.

Hi Andrzej do you have a firm answer as whether the sapphire theatrix 550 supports both NTSC and PAL on one card? or is there a card for each format?

on their website they said NTSC/PAL...which is really confusing.. any idea?

    Question

    Hi Andrzej,

Can you email me (I set it up to accept emails from members) and tell me why the 550 is a better card than the Hau PVR-150??? I'd like to hear it from a non-marketing expert from ATI. I have an ATI Radeon 9500 and I really am enjoying it after years of using the "n" cards. Thx.

    Hi All,

Sorry for the 'open issues' going in to a weekend...

...but sometimes the guys I need to speak to are working

I will create a mini-bump list on Monday morning and put them all through again together
