Reposting, it deleted my previous one...

1: Will the cards be Hardware encoding/decoding?
2: Will they have TiVo-esque features?
3: What companies are planning on selling them?
4: Will they work with online sites such as TitanTV? (I hate monthly fees)

Will post again if I can remember the other questions I had... grrr....

    Edit:
5: Will they accept analog AND Digital signals? ( http://www.comprousa.com/products/vmt300.htm shows to accept digital TV And the now comming digital radio signals, something I'd hope both would be covered on these cards. )

Yep, Im also waiting for one.

However Im getting digital cable on the 15th...
The cable tv will come with a digi->analoge box, BUT does anyone know if digital cards can be used with telewest digital tv? (eurobell area).
Id rather have a digital card, for the better quality, no need to re-encode etc... if not Ill be getting one of these.

I just hope the softwares good, drivers too. its what lets most tv cards down. I also REALLY hope ATI dont just re-bundle some crappy 3rd party software, I hate when companys do that!

Can someone explain - in real world terms - why they think this card is so good?

(Don't bother copying and pasting the marketing blurb unless you're prepared to decipher it).

ok, it uses a single chip to do all the work, while others from hunapeg and such use many chips (cost more) It has a state of the art 12bit decoding chip that uses advanced prosesing to make the image cleaner and sharper... Basicly it has evrything you could want from a analog tunner at a great price!

Edit: and I was told there shiping in the UK!

I know the analogue stuff is still running but you`ll need a decoder for the digi stuff....
I`ve got both.....plenty of them around , just ask a nice Telewest man

Didnt read my post, did ya?

The cable tv will come with a digi->analoge box

The question wasnt specific to this tuner, more a case of do I buy this tuner, or a specific digital tuner - sorta hoping someone here will know this, as theres not many places to find tv-tuner experts..

While this analoge tuner should be great, it can NOT beat the quality of a decent digital tuner. All the things that will make this tuner great, there just not needed in a digital tuner...

So to sum up my post, theres no point in getting one of these, if all your going to watch is free-view enabled channels, becuase you mayaswell get a digi-card and have the better quality. Probably will cost the same.

Currently theres just not the selection of channels on freeview, but untill I hear otherwise, I dont think normal digi-tuners can work with sky-digital or any other non-free digital service.

Currently we plug our Sky box into our VCR to record stuff from it, which uses an analoge cable. Could we connect the Sky box to this card and then record stuff from Sky to my computer?

    News update.

Today, ATI had a news release about the TV Wonder Elite, which uses the Theater 550 Pro.
    http://home.businesswire.com/portal/...35&newsLang=en

I emailed John Swimmer at ATI about when it would be on retail shelves, and here is his response:

It should be available around February.

Visit ATI.com in the coming weeks for more info.
