maplin RW04E 3.5mm to Phono Adptr (toby found)

that german guys auto on mod worked fine with a 470R resistor, failed to get composite working last night using a mono 3.5 jack. will try with a stereo some point before i start the real vga mod. want use this with xbox aswell.

read the entire thread and the only problem remaining is to separate the lcd from the board properly. some german guy seems to have done it from the googled translation i got but ive no idea how. all i can assume is he must have bought a cable trap like on the pcb and some identical ribbon and made an extension. gonna look see what i can find.

Toby - I've used a 3.5mm stereo to 2 phono jack lead and it works fine - left phono for the composite video IIRC.

By definition, in Linux you're using different drivers for the card, so the timings won't be identical - they should be pretty close thoug. what's your XF86Config look like?
Is there any easy way of doing this or is it just a matter of changing settings, restarting X then checking to see if it worked? Which settings should I be playing with?

Fiddle with all the above, restart x, repeat until it works well

I'll let you know what I get when my matrox mystique arrives in a few days, if you've not got it by then.

you sure about the HorizSync and VertRefresh values? where'd you get them from?

The HSync and VRefresh values seem to be calculated from the modeline so I just set them to a wide range which should contain all the values I need. A command line tool to alter modelines on the fly would be really useful but I can't find one.

fair enough. i dunno, the nearest thing is xf86config, but it's long winded - just keep the file open in a tty and keep trying...

toby resize or crop that pic please, it is stupidly big.

Does anyone know if either voodoo banshees, ati rage pro, or s3 virge cards have csync. I cba to make the circuit (a new card would cost less than the parts for one) and I need the lcd on seperate monitor.

Erm. Not sure. The ATI Rage doesnt, only the Radeons do, and I dont think the s3 does either. if you want it on a pci slot best bet seems to be a Matrox Mistique, or if on an AGP, try a Matrox Millenium II, G100, or G200

I will be trying the cards later. I think only the ati rage could work without the csync circuit.

Has anyone mounted one of these into a lianli pc70 case. This case is PERFECT for one of these screens, once I find how to mount it...

I've mount mine in my PC65 now using the sticky pads used to mount number plates (cheap and easy I know - but is very solid). I'll have to sort out my webspace and I'll post picks

Mine is super glued, but only at the corners so I could prise it off. It's not attached to a Lian-Li though.
