    Yeah i contacted them once to find out and they said that they started off by using TFT's but switched to STN's later on because they were far cheaper.
    So there is a good chance yours is TFT but if its not I wouldnt mod it.

    Big Ben Interactive Uk was the company and the screen they sold was under the brand 4Gamers/Screenstation, i think their response was if the box said TFT on the outside it was TFT but if the box didn't say TFT it was an STN.

    Unfortunately i don't think i still have the email. I'll check next weekend when i'm home what the actual response was.

    How much did you pay for the screen new? The TFT ones were definately >£100 i think the STN were around £70

    Code:
    PowerStrip timing parameters:
    720x576=720,61,48,131,576,30,4,36,14881,312

    Generic timing details for 720x576:
    HFP=61 HSW=48 HBP=131 kHz=16 VFP=30 VSW=4 VBP=36 Hz=24

    Linux modeline parameters:
    "720x576" 14.881 720 781 829 960 576 606 610 646 interlace +hsync +vsync
    You will HAVE to adjust them for your screen. No two screens are the same and the vga cable and gfx card will also affect it. I spent 3 hours before I got a good picture based on someone elses timings (it was also a pal screen). Any timings that are much different to those wont work well with my screen.
    OK......made my own monitor drivers with Powerstrip which enables the res 720*576 now. I tried your timings and the over guys one, and fiddled with it but no good.

    I managed to get the scrolling to stop, but all thats dispplayed is 4 vertical columns of white bars down the screen. When you guys were adjusting the timings for your LCDs, was there colour or was it black and white??

    Is it really hard to get a pic?

    How do you know when you're on the right track which settings do you tamper with?

    Well the scan rates are the ones you mess with and then all of a sudden the picture starts becoming visible. Then you fiddle with all the other settings to get it right.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    yea. Also its MUCH easyer if you have a picture to look at instead of just plain background colour. Cant remeber if windows does this by deafaut or not...

    Kez I just made my lm317 circuit but it refuses to give me more than 4.5v maybe you know what Ive done wrong? --> http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthrea...554#post647554

    Please have a look here: http://xentro.i8.com/psone/screen.htm

    its just a page a put together. I have tried to find out what cables connect to which and I have made a table of these. The 16 pin cable/connector right of the colored wires go to the screen and was wondering what it does. Is it for power?

    There are another two wires that link to the screen, I think these supply the power but I'm hoping that they are the video imputs. (I really doubt it but it would probarbly make my life a little easier)

    Also, what do each pin do one the PSX connecter do.

    I know this is quite a lot but I would really appreciate it if you anyone cold help me out here. Thanks.
    Tim.

    http://xentro.i8.com/psone/IMG_1657.JPG <- looks like its the high voltage (~1.8KV AC) CCFL power for the lcd backlight

    So it looks like you will have to use the AV connector for the screen. I done a quick google and found a french site, http://perso.solexine.fr/david/?/david/psx/svideo.html
    look at "Part II : Do-It-Yourself S-Video for the US PlayStation"
    Btw If that is correct, then I think pin 9 is the +5v DCC pin which you might need for your screen to turn on.
    Search on google for a better pin out, and you should be able to wire it upto vga with ease.
    If it is a STN screen I dont think there will be any disadvantage of using VGA so may aswell do it anyway, although It would take more effort - but you will have to mod it to svideo anyway if you dont...

    Use vga instead? itll give better results and for the amount of effort you will have to put in for svideo you may aswell use vga..

    I got my regulator working, after HOURS of frustration, and this was just a very simple circuit. Me = n00b

    Erm, silent... reading these parameters the +hsync and +vsync entries suggest (to me) the csync is not used under linux here - am I correct? erm. that makes very little sense to me, cos surely the hardware dictates what it uses to sync....

    I know very little about the intricisies of X though, so I am probably mistaken

    Also, could people post what cards they have got this working with without a csync circuit?

    Radeon 9000 dual head - using LCD on secondary display.

    Vid Card supports Csync, and so the LCD works fine.

    those timings are what powerstrip gave me, I havent edited them atall. I dont know if this works in linux but it will need csync to work properly, as the lcd requires it.

    Most cards should work, csync is the important thing.

    You dont need to bother with resistors once you have powerstrip set up (you will have to enable this desktop to be extended to the montitor though, afaik that doesnt req monitor detected). Its better imo if its not detected, as it means it will stay blank untill p/s opens. If you add the resistors, it gets detected, windows wil then set the timings making it go flickery for abot a min before p/s opens. While Im sure this doesnt damage it, I am sure it would be quite annoying.

    Kez does your lm317 make a lot of heat? Im using a nb heatsink on mine and its still reaching 70c current draw is only 0.6A too....
