Interesting if true: http://semiaccurate.com/2013/05/13/y...le-bios-flash/
It seams is just a normal bios with higher clocks and a driver INF file than can be modified so you can name your card however you want.
Check out the TPU news...i cant post a link...
Yes, seems Charlie has jumped the gun on this one.
As glitch mentioned tpu have a news story and they managed to figure out what is happening:

Basically, by messing with the INF you can get a card to be reported as just about anything:
Ah, so it's a case of someone trolling Nvidia essentially. Still, it doesn't rule out the possibility of a rebrand, maybe with a few minor changes, so it's something I'll be watching.
you can do that with the cpu as well - and its interesting , change an AMD cpu to an intel one and FPS goes up (will find the link for that)

Charlie is still standing by it - apparently the 770 isn't even a different stepping, maybe just binned for higher clocks. The BIOS might just be a modified 680 one but if it's the same ASIC then that's essentially all you'd need, the TPU article doesn't categorically disprove it. And the article seems to imply the BIOS leads back to Nvidia, not just some hacker bodge.
I wonder if these will end up being OEM cards then, like the 8000 series?
Edit: Just had a look and the BIOS image contains certificates, I could be wrong but surely they should prevent any random edits if any checks are performed at all?

A teaser for a new MSI laptop with quad core Richland and an 8970 dGPU:

17.3" screen, better have a big lap
I don't get the fuss with the Nvidia rebrand. Sounds like they are at least tweaking the clocks?
The AMD 5770 to 6770 rebadge didn't even bother doing that. Same chip, same card, same clocks, add 1000 to the badge number.
Just trying to get to the bottom of it, I've not passed judgement. Past rebrands from both brands have (rightly, IMO) received criticism, I don't see why these should be exempt if it turns out to be true.
Wonder what they are going to do for a 780 if the 680 is becoming the 770.
Sony reveals the modifications done to the AMD APU in the PS4:

The first review of the A4-4000:

Power consumption is much lower than the A4-5300 sample tested.
AMD is now making their APUs in China and not Malaysia:

Edit!!
The AMD A10 CPUs used thermal compound under the heatspreader:

Impressive drop in load power. Wonder if that 1200W PSU used in testing is bumping the results up though.
The A6-1450 is tested:
