Re: Crysis Demo fps + your thoughts

Judging from what i've heard, and the beta forums with dev's saying they are so busy optimising and completing Crysis for it to ship (before it was on the prod-line), i think it will get better.

If you put it in the right folder, and let it overwrite the file in that folder, then you don't need to do anything else. Just load up the game and play it as normal. It starts the same as usual, but when it goes from night to daytime, it starts getting different.

Re: Crysis Demo fps + your thoughts

    Hmm.

Game autodetected medium settings. Runs well, looks just like farcry.

Tried high and game looks like a cross between farcry and lost planet, and runs pretty badly. More tweakage needed.

Re: Crysis Demo fps + your thoughts

Well, a combination of screen restrictions plus the obvious bad performance means this demo has made the top of my disappointments list

1280x720 on a 30" screen looks abysmal and the next resolution up is 1920x1200 which looks gorgeous - but is an utterly unplayable sideshow.

    Q6600 @ 3.5GHz with a 8800GTX @ Ultra speeds....

Weird. I'd have thought you'd be fine with that setup on 1920*1200. I can play it on my machine at 1280*1024 on very high settings, and the frame rates are fine. Not amazing, but certainly more than just playable. And thats on a 640 MB GTS overclocked to GTX speeds.

I guess you're asking for an extra million pixels per frame over me though.

    There's a 'Ultra' setting?

    A 8800GTX/1920x1200\Direct 10\Athlon X2 4400 give me about 12fps. That's at 'Very High'.

Re: Crysis Demo fps + your thoughts

I think they're talking about ultra speed of their 8800GTX (over clocked).

p.s: I was kind of gutted at the performance of this game too. But I'm still holding on to some hope that the finished game will be optimised better than this demo. Someone said the Beta is even better than this demo... so we have a good chance of getting a decent improvement in the final game.

Beta's bound to be better on FPS since it's the multiplayer version. It's not got to worry about half the physics, the AI overhead etc...

Just like far cry. Really, just live with the (very) wonderful visuals at high and do the very high thing next year on your new card. Runs like a slideshow at very high on Vista 64 @ 1600x1200 for me - but i'm not really shocked - it's slick as hell on high / XP 32. I seem to be GPU limited - frame rate is the same at stock (2.4ghz) versus OC (3.0).
