Re: Crysis Demo fps + your thoughts

hahaha - just had a truly genius moment. Drove a jeep up a rock and landed it on a house. I jumped out just as someone threw a grenade in, which blew up taking the big gas tank around the back with it. My very very dead body got blown clean over the mountain and tumbled down the other side, and I fell into the cut scene with the frozen ship.

Very very bizarre.

lol I did something similar. I accidently pressed F when I was about 5000 feet up in a chopper, and fell out and somehow landed in that cut scene And yeah I'm glad you agree. Mindblowing!

Here it is:
Crysis-HQ.com Forum - Einzelnen Beitrag anzeigen - SandBox2 Fragen & Antworten

Get the bottom one (Demo Map 5). I'm not entirely sure what the difference is, but I played them both and the first one was good, but the second one sucked me in and didn't spit me out until about 5 hours later

NOTE:!!!!: Some may think its a bit of a spoiler by the way. Because it lets you use all the weapons in game, all the vehicles, and even the chopper. Personally though, I think its well worth checking out. And if you liked the game before, you are going to pee yourself with joy over this.....

Install guide:
1) Download the file and put it somewhere safe.

2) Go to the folder where you installed the demo to, and then go the folder below. Assuming you installed to drive C, it will be like this:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Game\Levels\island

3) Find the file called "Level.pak" and back it up somewhere safe, or just rename it.

4) Copy the file you downloaded, into that folder.

5) Play the game as normal.

6) Keep saying, Wooooaaaa coool!!!!!

note: The game still starts as normal so you might not think it worked. But when it goes from night to daytime, you'll start noticing differences. And when you get down onto the beach for the first time, look to your left

Re: Crysis Demo fps + your thoughts

Personally I think the SP demo is using an older build of the engine and not the final retail product. Here's why...

...I just watched GameSpot's On The Spot and their framerate was very good even through streaming video it looked amazing, I also noticed light ray effects that the demo does not have so obviously they're running on DX10 mode.

The system they showed it on was a C2D with 2GB ram and a 512MB 8800GT and they said it ran awesome. The guy who showed us playing it said someone else started the game for him but he said he thinks it was all on high or very high.

Looks like the full game is in fact much more optimised for dual/quad core and favours the 8800GT muchly!

This is what we are all hoping. The aim for Crytek was a E6600, 2gb, and an 8800/2900 card for high/very high settings.

The game is amazing, though. I think it will take people a while to get the hang of truly thinking with their heads in Crysis though. The idea that, yeah, you can go in and gun up the camp, lobbing grenades and blowing stuff up... OR... See that small outpost just past the camp? go over there and set their alarm off, this will draw in reinforcements from the big camp which will make it easier to tackle, then you can grab that massive rock and throw it on the garage they have, making it collapse on 2 enemies. You can shoot the trees up, blocking the road so that the Jeeps that are coming back from the outpost can't get through. Or... you could take that camp 1000 other ways.

This looks like it'll end up being a cult game. The people who truely understand how to minipulate the AI and Physics will love it. Otherwise, it's just another openplaying shooter.

I think you need to put a spoiler warning on your post with the photos and the info by the way. Some people don't want to know all that stuff, and want it to be a surprise.

Acrobat, I downloaded the map, and played through about 90% of the demo without seeing that anything obvious had changed. What am I supposed to be looking for and where exactly?

There's no way I downloaded the wrong file (I used the bottom one)/need to enter a command to make it work is there?

Not sure what I could have done wrong...

Re: Crysis Demo fps + your thoughts

Hmm, strange. When you are approaching the main beach area, after seeing one of your buddies hung upside down in a tree, you should see a giant flying alien. If you're not getting that, you've got the wrong map, or you haven't installed it correctly.

Then, on the beach to the left of where you come out, are a shed-load of weapons/tanks/helicopters/boats, all of which you can use.

When you downloaded the file, did you put it into the right folder, and over wrote the old file?

If you have done that, then you can't go wrong. The demo starts as normal, but you then get attacked by a flying alien thingy, and then you come across a table with all kinds of goodies, and then once you get down onto the beach, you will start seeing new stuff. So you will know you did it right when you get to that point

All you really need to do is make sure you over write the file with the file you downloaded. (if you still can't get it going, come back and we'll help)

Could it be because it says pre-release demo in the top right hand corner? Or because it went gold a long time after the demo was put together?

I'm hoping that the final fps are better, I'm sure they will be. Nvidia and AMD will no doubt release some better drivers for it too - thats key.

Since changing my card to an 8800GT I'm willing to play to demo now and enjoyed it. My 7900GTO just made the demo look and feel terrible.
