Re: Gta 4 Finished!! Completed!! Clocked!!

I don't know about you Ben, but what I want from GTA4 is a good game. I want it to actually be fun to play, not just ultra violent and thats enough.

I don't want it to be the video game version of a Steven Segal film - loads of blood, explosions and people getting kicked in the eyes, but a crap script, bad acting and cheesy plots.

I want the car jackings, yes, I want the guns, the bombs, the po-lice chasing me, etc, etc, but I wont be sold just on that. The game underneath has to be fun to play.

Better be good anyway, its costing me 40 notes. And I rarely pre-order a game before I've read reviews.

Stewart, you forgot that Mario has been going a LOT longer than the GTA games have, not to mention more numerous appearances (super mario and sequels, galaxy, mario kart, mario tennis, mario golf)

Grand Theft Luigi would be a cool game, steal a Yoshi and shoot eggs in a drive by

Yeah true. I'm just saying then whichever way you look at it, units sold, pedigree, character recognition, Mario is still the daddy.

Kiddies today don't get it sometimes, because Mario doesn't use an AK47 in any of his games.

Alex Kidd In Miracle World is class. I put so many hours into that when I was an ankle biter.

Probably the best 8bit Sega game.

Re: Gta 4 Finished!! Completed!! Clocked!!

Did he finish it in 1 day? If so, is that not ridiculously short?

And what's the deal with the failed missions. When you fail a mission, don't you have to do it again? Or can you just skip it and move on? Iirc, there are missions you don't need to do in past GTA's, because they are like "side quests", but the main storyline usually has a huge load of missions and they all need to be passed. Isn't that right?

If so, it's making me wonder if they took a horrible Oblivion route with this game and the main storyline is about 20 missions that you can finish in a day, and the rest of it is just a bunch of side quests that don't really achieve anything and are purely optional. I hope that's not the case.

Also I agree with those who love GTA. I think they are fantastic games although I'd agree they wouldn't be in my top 10. My favourite was San Andres by far. That was the first modern driving game I had ever played, which let you get in a car and drive on a road that is long and straight enough to go top speed... Great stuff. In most stuff (and all the previous GTA's) you always used to run out of road so you could never fully open up a car and see it's top speed. I also liked that it had loads of missions, good story and acting and big world, and the jetpack and planes and choppers just made it awesome. I love that game. The one thing I want to see, is just the final extra element to make it a top 10 game of all time kind of thing... I really thought the gang warfare would be it in GTA:SA, but it just wasn't. They had the hood split into zones and you had to capture and hold each area, but they did it in such a half arsed way. I don't blame them considering how much the game had, but I just wish that was a bit more involving. If you actually got something for holding an area (like regular cash piling up or something), and if you actually lost something by losing the areas (like loads of bad guys all over the place so you can barely any journey without someone shooting at you), then it would give it more purpose. And then have it so that taking a zone is better, so it's not just 20 gangsters appear out of thin air, and run at you in a perfectly straight line, so one grenade or lucky angle in a car can take them all out in one go. If they could elaborate on that some more, and make it part of the story too, so it's a requirement to hold areas (as well as doing all the missions), then it would probably be ideal for me and I'd love it.

I hope GTA4 manages something like that.

    ----
Ehh I read the end bit where he talks about how long it took. I hope it's not too short As long as the main story is as long (or longer) than San Andreas, I'll be really happy. Because I thought that was good. I don't know what he means by taxi rides, but I hope they aren't quick routes from mission to mission, and I hope they come at a significant cost! Part of the challenge of the game for me was always getting to and from places... I'm going slow in an old banger, so I jump out, steal a ferrari or something and whizz off and then 2 minutes later i've rolled it and blown myself up I liked that. I hope they haven't made the game easy by just giving easy travel. Again... like Oblivion Not that I want a game full of time sinks, but part of the fun is driving around, I hope that isn't changed.

No matter what any site says about GTA IV everyone will buy it.

It will be the biggest selling piece of entertainment media in the history of the universe. A Halo 3 beater and no mistake.

Still, this is quite clearly my fanboi opinion but it the only one that counts and is factually correct and no ones elses matters

Well I don't even have a console so I won't be rushing out to buy it I'll probably get it when it comes to PC though, whenever that will be....

I could buy a PS3 but there isn't really anything else I would want to play on it.

Errr read the end of my post. *Rolleyes back at you*

And 30 hours is barely more than a day. Also he said "I racked up 25 hours at the final count", hence my 1 day.
