    Re: Prototype

You have a marker telling you where you need to head next but if you want you can explore the area you are in and cause carnage, if theres no military about you can do what you want. I ran into a few cars and pedestrians knocking them flying but there was no enemies about. No doubt the further you go into the game and as the city becomes a warzone there will be less options to explore without causing aggro, its all good though.

I think the more carnage you cause the more likely you are to attract attention, I was disguised as a soldier and now and again the lens was flashing amber meaning that if you do to much and get spotted it will cause you bother. Also if you look like Mercer and military are about its game on straight away, disguised though and you can walk amongst them

Little tip for PS3 owners, I got an error saying there wasn't enough space on my hard disk for the installation which was a load of nonsense (for the want of better words) as I have the 80Gb model with a handful of games installed. Its a known issue with the game. To bypass this error, delete a demo or PS1 game or download something else to the PS3 drive and it installs spot on.
Yeah by all means I can alway nip out for a quick smoke if you are passing etc.

I was looking at Prototype myself but got Red Faction myself, so will look at Prototype in a few months time or rent it from Blockbuster or something. Really need to reign in the spending on games xD Over £250 in the last two months on PC Games, EVE Online Subs and Xbox games :/

Tell me about it, spending to much myself. Was so tempted to pre order Ghostbusters today. Thing is though I have quite a few PS3 games now all halfway finished so I think I should think on finishing a few off before buying anything else! Same goes for 360 games, so many to finish off, Fallout 3 being one of them!

Sony are really annoying me with thier exclusives. I have no PS3 and will not buy one. No matter how many decent titles buy out and whore for their machine.

    Re: Prototype

I bought Prototype yesterday and have played about 4 hours. I'm really enjoying it and can see myself picking up the game for half an hour here and there once I'm finished just to glide about the city and cause some carnage .

My only complaint is the difficulty. Some missions are stupidly easy and require no thought whatsoever. Others are horribly hard and take multiple attempts before you can figure out how to do it, and even when you know what to do, putting it into practice is hardly a piece of cake.

    *****SPOILER*****
So I spend 4 hours upgrading all my powers, then I fight the Specialist, beat him, and he injects me with something that disables all my powers? Very bad decision in my opinion.
    *****SPOILER*****

    Re: Prototype

I've played it for around an hour so far, reached the genetics building but had to turn it off at that point as the kids were getting up. Its pretty cool to just have a wander about to see what you can find.

Its got a few nice little touches I have noticed also, for example. I picked up a car and flung it whilst running, immediately the car in front of me slammed the brakes on and reversed away from me.

    So far I'm loving it.

Now that sounds fun, take a vehicle up top and throw it down into a crossroad full of traffic and see what carnage ensues!!

Think I'll try that later tonight.

    Re: Prototype

Well, On various forums people seem to be liking it. And I have been waiting for ages for it.

Thing is I'm worried me PC will stutter a bit. I have a 1.87GHz Core 2 Duo which looks below the minimum specs. And I spent too much money on MS points already

How are you guys finding performance wise?

    Re: Prototype

I've got it on the pc, and with everything maxxed out at 1950*1050 I only experience a little lag when there's a ton of stuff going on on screen - even then it only happens for a few seconds. Graphics aren't the best and textures are pretty low res but everything looks great when you are gliding over times square . Works brilliant with a 360 pad, not so much so on keyboard and mouse.

    Re: Prototype

I saw it in the shops. On the main website I was so sure the specs for the cpu were 2.4.
On the packaging it was lower. Good enough for my cpu. So I bought it

The first couple of minutes are mad. I'm using mouse and keyboard so I had to set the sensitivity for the mouse very high. Then I didn't know what I was doing.

But when it kicks off and shows you It got good.
I said before I thought this would be like Infamous. Sooo glad it is not. There is something soo good about running down the street, grabbing a person as you go then running up a building and eating them when you get to the top. I'm a bloody cannibal.

When I walked about checking out the city it looks very old style. Obviously it is made for running through. But soon as I walked along the streets I laughed as my character slaps anyone who gets close. I wish I could do that in real life.
At one point I was disguised as a soldier. I had the button held down so I would walk so as not to give away I'm a filthy cannibal. So funny, as I walked passed another soldier my character slapped him. "Right you are then" said the soldier as I went about my business.

There are a lot of upgrades eh? And I love the way you clamber over cars as you run through the streets. I'm bearly into it to really know what I think.

But why is Alex so angry at the people who have done this to him?

He'll never have to buy food again. He can simply eat people. He can slap anyone about he wants. He could morph into a 7 foot stud with a 12 inch todger and get any woman he wants. He doesn't need a car or public transport. He never has to work again.

    Re: Prototype

Whoa, these forums are pretty dead. I bet the elderly at bingo halls are more livley than this

This game is getting a bit boaring. Maybe powers will liven it up some.

In between missions you have the oppertunity to free roam. You can destroy a hive building - A base for the infected. Or you can infiltrate a military base. Both offer XP for you to spend on more powers. The military bases offer more bonuses inside. But each looks eactly the same and you basically tackle it the same way. And it does not seem to make much difference how many you take down as more spring up. You do this for extra powers. it's so bloody repetitive if you want to get all these powers.
I can see this getting very boaring. Not a game you play in long bouts.

And the story is not that great either. I thought the opening scenes were really good. Right now it is not very interesting.

    Maybe it'll pick up soon?
