why does it even bother you people are looking forward to this game? Valve (imo) have an amazing track record and are perhaps the most consistent developer at the moment. I haven't been let down by any of their games, it's almost guaranteed it will be half-decent at least.

AFAIK steam still do the old way where you buy the disk etc and it links to your account(cdkey) so it will be exactly the same buying from the store as it would from steam apart from the fact store is cheaper and you get physical goods and no need to download, you do have to wait longer for the demo though.
valve/steam are great with their games, the question is whether you want to pay more to play a demo earlier..
..I think i'll buy it elsewhere tbh
