potential lost sales of servers from server hosting companies:

    $40(average cost per month)
    20000(average COD4 servers)
    $800,000 per month lost revenue
Multiply that by 24 months(COD4 has been out that long)
$19,200,000 in lost server revenue for 2 years
    +$1,740,000
    ---------------
$20,940,000 TOTAL LOST REVENUE FOR GAMERS AND SERVER COMPANIES

Go sign the petition, if they dont change the gameplay with dedicated server option, DONT BUY IT...

    Duke

Who is supposed to pay those server fee's?

as thats quoted... they will have $1,740,000 total income from those who realllllly want dedicated servers (so much so they are petitioning) and supposed to pay $19,200,000 in hosting costs...

can you see why they DONT want to put dedicated servers into this?

Re: No dedicated servers for MW2

I thought dedicated servers are paid for by the users themselves?

The petition is now at 46k. It needs to get much bigger before I think they will take any notice though.

    1. No incentive to buy the game as their is no difference between teh console
    2. Treating pc users as scum and people pirating it just to piss off the developer
    3. Online mode is ruined and many buy pc games for the online aspect of the game as you cant play pirated games properly online

So less desire for the game - so less piracy.

I guess, but this is a pretty viscious cycle.

Agreed - so even less reason to pirate as a result of this development.

Either way, they will get less profit out of this game because of two reasons now, people who pirate it and people who just not interested in a "console" game on their pc's.

Re: No dedicated servers for MW2

I'm not really a multiplayer type - I prefer single player but I will be boycotting this now as this is just another example of PC gamers getting treated like dirt. And no Activison - I will not be getting on Xbox to compensate.

It time PC gamers got treated right - I've don't pirate and spend £100s on PC games a year so why do I get treated like a second class citizen compared to console owners. (Yes I do now own an Xbox but only to play against my brother - Unless its something my brother owns I'll be going down the PC route every time!)

dedicated servers are supplied by 3rd party companies usually. IW are removing the ability for them to be used in the game at all!

I have cancelled my pre-order. I will wait and see reviews before re-ordering. I only want to play the hardcore multiplayer side of the game.
    What a shame.
