Fair enough, I'll aim for headshots and see if that helps Thanks.
For me its worked - it might just be buggy / lag or luck, but it worked

Weirdo The knife has never been perfected. However with the latest patch seems to have a problem with stabbing before from behind especially.

The knife is totally buggered. In the interests of science, my flatmate went in the opposite team one night, and let met have a crack at stabbing him. I literally stabbed him 5 times before he died. It's nonsense.

I've been mystified by the knife as well. Sometimes I knife them several times and there is blood to indicate a hit each time and I'm left thinking 'wtf he didn't die' and end up either getting shot or shooting them anyway which I could have done from a safe distance.. Other times I hear the 'eurgh' sound as someone tried to stab me and yet I'm still alive. My theory is the animation and sound lag your Pc so it doesn't send the hit to the server. I've reduced the sound quality in game to try and reduce lag. And I've ordered some more ram!

I have taken a break from getting platinum stars and started to use my old and very trusted friend the AN-94 Abakan. It tears through anything. The screenshots below says it all (3x Combat Excellence Pins – 8 kills in a row)

I don't have the AN94, so I'm running around with the Saipan. Sneak.....sneak.....sneak....badaBOOM x12. I usually die but I'll take them with me.

The USAS12 gets me a few kills up close. I'm going to start using the AN94 more. It seems to be clearly the best assault rifle.

    Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2

I got this on the 14.99 deal. Very pretty visuals indeed.

gameplay: well, the SP shows a truly terrible AI compared to MW1 & 2, reminiscent of games 5+ years ago. C'est la vie - I bought it for the MP game anyway.

my laptop ain't the fastest by any means, but has proven more than up to the job for MW2, so was surprised at the bottlenecks. (C2D T7700 2.4, 8600GT 512MB, 2GB). Have had to play on lowest settings, but there go.

what is with the ineffectiveness of the early weapons? Point blank shots, or sniper shots on stationary figures, etc = very unlikely to score a kill....

my web conn is fine for all other FPS games, so far, inclu MW2

BTW, this ain't a thread on trying to show MW2 is somehow better than BC2 - I much prefer the bigger maps on BC2 already, and am keen to know if anyone else experiencing such an issue.
One can never stop saying Thank You

I've found the same - the first weapons are no match for unlocked weapons - so picking up dropped weapons from downed allies/enemies is a key strategy to start with. My frame rates are also very variable, even with an overclocked 5870. I'm putting it down to the dual core processor not being man enough for the job.

My k:d ratio is not great at all (~0.85 atm), but I'm hoping that will change as I get used to the maps and unlock better kit.

My ratio is alright but still not mastered this game. Some rounds I do well and other rounds I will score around 1000 points max. Get a lot of lag when everything kicks off on my setup, shadows set to low and all other settings to medium with aa on 1x.

Need to tweak it more to get it running better. Tempted to get it for the 360 though and be done with it, not got the money to throw at upgrading the PC and a local games store has it in for £8 pre-owned. Got plenty points on my xbox account so the vip pack isn't an issue.

Yes, I can see the attaction of getting it on the xbox given the beast of a machine this appears to need on the PC. It does look really nice though on the PC mind. I still can't get on with a pad for FPS games myself, but I know I'm in an ever decreasing number of people that applies to.

I still prefer the keyboard and mouse, tried the XFPS adapters for the 350 but you don't get a smooth mouse movement as the game still emulates a thumb stick type of movement. What I did was over the year of having the 360 I just played FPS games more and more on them. I am still not brilliant but I can hold my own. I first played BC2 on the 360 as I never got into the beta so had to play the demo on that and the controls were easy enough to get on with As I always play Assault/Engineer anyway, don't need pin point aim for the sniper rifles etc.
