    Re: Battlefield Bad Company 2

Somethings wrong with my BC2 disk. most of the time it fails to authenticate whenever i try to launch the game.

The sound from my driver sounds like its constantly trying to read something but fails to do so.

There is not a scratch/mark on my disk as well
Mine did this as well, had to switch to online authentication. Couldnt find any other way around it

It must be a scam by EA!
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

£22.24 at The Hut with some coupon code and I'm sure I saw something on Tesco that was about £23 with a free 800 MS Point card, think I read both on HUKD.

Well at first I thought it was the 8800GTS as I have a shuttle SX38P2 Pro, so bought a replacement 8800GTS 512 from Ghee Tsar on here. 10 minutes into the system boot and loading up BC2 the system locks, 8800GTS is so hot to touch I blister my fingers and the PSU went bang. Luckily testing the Q6600 and the 4GB corsair XMS 2 are fine and work flawlessly as I tested them in a mates machine so I will be selling those. Just don't have the finances to throw down £700+ on another gaming rig that would have to last me 4 years +.

Aye got PC version was around level 20ish then the system went bang as I said above, so PC gaming shelved for now and I am working off a Samsung NC10 now as the main machine for at least another 3 months until I can get the money to get a decent laptop I can plonk on the desk and hookup to the monitor, keyboard, mouse etc etc.

What PSU did you have? did it mess up all your components? if its just your PSU taht needs replacing then it wont cost you 700 to do so. Also i wouldn't game on a shuttle case. get a lian li or silvestone case for better air flow/cooling or stick a water cool system on your shuttle

The SX38 and SX48 and SH58 I think it is were Shuttles gaming series Built for high end parts.

As for the PSU its the typical shuttle weird shuttle only psu fit :/ they want £90 for the PSU but can't afford to throw £90 away if it doesn't work and takes yet another FX card with it. The Q6600 and the 4gb corsair memory is fine and the HD but tbh if I am looking at parts to build another system to take the Q6600 and the DDR2 then I would need another new graphics card. mobo, cooler, psu, case etc, just not got the money.

Got the major service MOT and road tax all due in the next month or so. Not really missing the PC games atm though as I was only playing MW2, BC2 and Stalker. Nowt major, the majority of the gaming was indy games from Steam.

Theirs your problem mate. Highlighted in bold for you. Im guessing you diddnt build that rig or you diddnt get advice from us lot when you built it because if you did, the number one rule for building a pc is NEVER EVER SKIMP on the PSU.

UM, I didn't skimp on the PSU, the SX38P2 pro comes with the 450w PSU as standard (which is made to run the 9800GTX cards I was just running a 8800GTS 512 that used half the power of the 9800 series). Worked flawlessly, the issue is the room and only room spare for the computer was in a small sweat box that got the sun all day, 2 years of 24/7 running just took its toll xD

I knew the risks when I built the shuttle anyway as I was sick of the huge cases and desk space is at a premium in the spare room. I know/knew the shuttle's had history with PSU's going etc and the heat was an issue but as I said the space issue is what swung the decision.

Worked flawlessly for 2 and a half years belting out games at full details and the heat was high but nothing major Although with the temps now hitting 26c+ and the room sitting at around 28c alone due to getting the sun for almost 10 hours a day the room + heat were just to much. I took the risk gaming in that heat and paid the price for it.

I will build another gaming rig in the future but until then, I have a million and one other ways of playing games. Most likely the only PC game to even get me considering buying another gaming rig would be Diablo 3, as for everything else, the console will have to do, there isn't a major be all and end all PC game that is coming out in the next few years other than Diablo 3 for me.

I doubt I will miss the PC for gaming currently as I was only playing BC2 and MW2 with any decent amount of time. I got given MW2 on the 360 and just got BC2 on the 360 for £17 at a local store with the VIP codes so I am ready to go. Just got to use a pad instead, either way I won't be missing out

At the end of the day I have to work out what is more important, getting the car taxed serviced and through it's MOT and then the bills. Or throwing a bucket load of money at a gaming PC that would sit there most the time only being used for a handful of games. I guess the times have changed, in the past I would get a new machine without thinking, but these days with most my friends all playing the 360's or PS3's PC gaming isn't what it used to be and I end up in random pubs instead of having a laugh with friends
